You should use your best relievers in your most critical situations. Using Williamson as he was used today was well done by Baker, in my opinion.

 

The question is, was it intentional? I don't think Dusty views Williamson as being ahead of Howry.

 

williamson is filthy sometimes and very mediocre the next. i think dusty is waiting for a little more consistency. he definitely has better stuff than howry. no one questions that.

i don't know why any manager, even dusty, would ask a hitter as hot as barrett to bunt, in any situation.

It caught the Pirates by surprise, but it was too close to home plate, and Cota grabbed it quickly. Another couple of feet and everyone is safe. Randa was way back.

 

I'm pretty sure that Barrett did that on his own.
