I need to step away for a few ... it would be definitely worth your while to tune in to this game. :) Hopefully I'll be back for the bottom of the inning.

Guzman is putting up some good numbers right now but it seems like he's trying to be too perfect. He's really trying to paint the corners with everything instead of setting the hitters up and mixing his pitches.

Chiefs hitters with 1 hit through 5. Mark Reed has the sole hit, an infield single.

Scoreless to the bottom of the 5th.

That is one thing I noticed about Reed last year for Boise. As a catcher, he has good speed.

Strong singled and stole 2nd base. Restovich reached on an error, and Strong scored from 2nd on the play. I-Cubs up 3-0 now.

Guzman's line through 5:

5IP 2H OR 1BB 6K 85 pitches/54 strikes

Guzman's final line. Brownlie comes in to pitch a scoreless 6th.

And it looks like he'll be staying in for a few innings as he just took his AB.

That's quite a nice line, all things considered.

Felix greets Jimmy Anderson with a first pitch, 3-run triple into the right field corner. His second triple in as many ABs.

Aardsma pitches a scoreless 9th and the I-Cubs win 7-1.

Pie went 3-4 with 2 triples, a sac fly, 4 RBIs, a run scored, and a stolen base.

Here's to Pie getting called up to start in RF during May!!! Highly unlikely but if Jones is still struggling, it'd be a nice sight.

I'd prefer Pie gets until Sept before getting called up.

If he manages to keep hitting around .500 with a 2-1 K-BB ratio, I think it'd be pretty hard to keep him down in AAA for that long. ;)

But a half season stay down at Iowa to work on his SB technique, approach at the plate, and so on would be ideal. I predict he gets called up in mid-June.

With as much time as he missed last year, that might be a good thing. If he is still tearing up AAA like he is right now however, I think challenging him a little bit might be a good idea. He could rather easily have Francouer type success at the major-league level.

I think the performance of Jones and Murton will have a large impact on how long Pie stays down. If Jones continues to struggle, and Pie is hitting everything is sight, then it will be tough to keep him down.
