Neifi to start at second tomorrow

ESPN 1000 was reporting earlier today that Dusty announced that Neifi is starting tomorrow at 2nd base. He said that it came down to a decision between Jerry Hairston and him. Dusty said the reason Walker isn't starting is that wants better defense on the field since Maddux is pitching. Can anyone explain this to me? I am dumbfounded.

Well, you can't expect TOO much intelligence out of Dusty. I mean, he trotted out pretty much our best lineup 2 games in a row vs. the Reds. His brain probably hurts now from all that thinking.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Neifi bats either 7th or 8th. Either Cedeno or Murton will be batting 2nd. I know, I went all the way out on that limb. :D

I've always said I want Murton batting 5th or 6th because I think he's gonna have alot of power and slugging this year. And that's where you need it. But THAT is if WALKER or HAIRSTON is already batting 2nd. If it's to keep Perez from batting 2nd then I'll accept Murton there.

 

Atleast he would maybe get an extra at-bat batting there. And considering Murton, that's always a good thing. .

I'm neither I was always in the middle. :lol: . But we don't exactly "lose" IF Neifi's defense and or bat helps us win the game. I am willing to be patient with Dusty this year. And judge on a day by day basis. If he keep this up, then I'll turn to your side. The dark side.

It is not like this move is a big suprise or the end of the world. Dusty said long before the season started that certain pitchers wanted to have a better defense behind them than last year. Now we know that Maddux is one of those pitchers. If Maddux starts off great this year, I don't have any problem with him having a defensive team behind him. Hopefully, his defensive team includes Blanco.

I don't have a problem with Maddux requesting a certain defense if he'd do all of us fans a favor and keep the ball in the yard so the defense has something they can actually field.
