I hate to say it but these past two games have been really sloppy. We look like last years club all over again.

6 runs is pretty good for the offense.

Not worried about the Offense I'm worried about the sloppy defense play.

Catching the ball so to speak?

good point

I just got the last inning. Did the bats look ok, or was it the same as last year? I know all the runs came off of 3 2-run homers.

They had about 5 or 6 flyouts to the track/wall.

Jacque might be worse than I though he would be. Oh well. I'm more concered about our starting pitching at the moment.

I'm worried about the pitching and the sloppy Offense. Another error today. I'm worried about facing Cards come this weekend.

Splitting a 2-game series in which you give up 15 runs isn't too bad.

And it looks like Williams is well on his way to pitching himself out of that 5th spot.

This game was lost by lousy pitching from Rusch and Williams. Without Wood, Prior and Miller, its going to be a long year.

I was worried about this team tanking in April and then they'd be so far in the hole in May that Wood, Prior, and Miller couldn't dig them back out again.

Out of the 5th spot and the Bullpen!

I think some of you are really counting on Miller to come here and be solid but when he was playing for the RSox he was pretty bad. HIs velocity was way down and this was after he decided to rest his shoulder and opt out of surgery. I have no confidence in him coming here and finding his old Astros form. I hope he does but it's too soon to be optimistic with him.

Some decent pitching and the Cubs are 2-0

He was injured. He and Kerry had the same surgery so I'm going to assume the problem has been corrected. I expect decent pitching from both when they return.

I'm still worried about the Cubs offense. Getting a bunch of runs in GABP against crappy Reds pitchers isn't enough to convince me.

And I'm also still worried about the starting pitching.

Miller had the same problem as Borowski. Both decided to rest instead of surgery. With the rest of the offseason Miller came back and was pretty bad with a lot of lost velocity. If the surgery has helped him..well that remains to be seen.

I'm not worried about the pitching. Z will be fine so there's no worry there.

I figured Rusch and Williams were going to suck so there's no reason to worry there either. :?

This game was lost when Williams came in and imploded. I would rather have Williams in the rotation than in the bullpen.

Exactly, Rusch only (lol) gave up 4 runs so they were still in the game.

Sorry TT, that was a crappy job of holding the runner by Cedeno.

What more do you want him to do? The replay showed Freel wasn't more than a couple steps away from the base, and had to move back to get there. Ronny's throw was a bullet too.

He had all day. He barely peaked over there before unloading. That's what more I'd want.

Ideally you'd hold onto it for another second on a sharp hop like that, but if you look over and see him right near the bag, I can't fault him for turning and firing to first.

Freel never stopped moving toward home and was way too far from 3B - Cedeno should have got him in a rundown. I still want him starting at SS everyday though.

Borowski is pitching nicely now.

Anyway, I'm counting on Miller, Wood, and Prior returing to form. Heck, they don't even have to be dominating just go 6 and limit the runs. The bullpen can't keep coming into the game after 4 innings.

Z can only help us every 5th game. Even if he's fine, we still have 4 other starters to worry about.

I'm glad Ronny learned something today. It hurt the team but it's only the 2nd game. They'll need him to be headsup in the future.

In actuality, it didn't hurt the team since the Cubs didn't score in the 9th.

The Cubs have yet to win a remaining game in the opening series after scoring 15+ runs on Opening Day. :x

I get back from class and we're down 1, the difference being a BRONSON ARROYO home run??? We need new pitchers.
