Pretty much.

Thats very encouraging. Compared to what was run out there on a daily basis last year its a big improvement...is it enough? who knows...but its an improvement. And I've got a strange feeling that Murton won't be in that 7 hole for long...I think he's going to work his way well up the line up before the year is over.

One of my stories didn't make the Internet today, but in it, I asked Dusty where he saw Murton. He said fifth eventually. I think so, too.

he should definitely be fifth against lefties. that's actually a pretty fierce lineup for a lefty to deal with - would be better if they platooned jones.

Yeah, good lineup today. Hopefully it is sooner rather than later that Murton hits 5th in the lineup. After Guzman's outing yesterday Ryu better have a strong showing to stay in the race for the 5th spot.

Cubs Press Notes

The Cubs lead the majors in average spring training

attendance, averaging 10,587 fans per game at HoHoKam

Park.

© The Cubs also lead the majors in average road

attendance (8,276 per road game).

How can they count average road attendance. Do they count every one with cubs gear on. :D

Jones is one of the best April hitters on Earth for some odd reason. I think once the typical May struggles start, you'll see Dusty try Murton and Barrett in the 5-hole.

I've come to grips with Hairston starting. And hope he can perform at a high level. Walker will still get plenty of time. He becomes the first bat off the bench, which is better than Mabry or Perez. And I expect him to get plenty of starts at 2B if he's around.

I could swear I've seen some great splits of Barret where as he works up the lineup from 8 to 5 or so his numbers get better and better. He'd be my choice for #5 vs. lefties until Murton is a little less of an unknown.

I'm sure that Fred can pull those up :)... I seem to also recall these numbers, I believe he's a much more patient hitter when up towards the middle of the lineup as well.

No, they're not keeping guns on guys like Miller and Wood. Wood has been throwing very well, and Miller is a couple weeks behind that. He also has been doing well, but the Cubs aren't rushing him.

What do you think we should realistically expect out of Miller this year?

I hate the pathetic coverage of spring training games. Today's game is one of the few that's on radio, so, of course, I am not getting a good signal of AM 720. I hate AM radio.
