we're expecting snow tomorrow raisin - of course, it was supposed to snow yesterday too. we have the problem of no moisture but its plenty humid today. we are going to be in SD for the WBC next weekend though so that is what I was referring to. Right now, they are predicting the system to stay north of Phoenix with a chance of showers for SD on the 18th. We'll see.

The system has been getting bumped later and later. Just yesterday, it was going to be the 16th and 17th.

You get some thunder this weekend? I saw SD has a severe t-storm warning today. The whole set-up looks like a potentially large event for us but they aren't predicting more than a couple inches - of course, it was just snow showers 6 hours ago. where is truffle when you need him? hopefully it doesn't rain at all in SoCal next weekend.

Yeah - and we got hail, sleet and the non-accumulating snow with one thunderstorm last night (we even lost power for some time). We were under a warning at some point last night too. There really isn't much moisture for this system to work with.

WBC aside, we could use the rain.

any moisture that falls here comes from the gulf of mexico so we really need to energy from the storm - the moisture is long gone by the time it gets here anyway. I would hate to drive in LA in that kind of weather! Well, I hate to drive in LA anyway. Go Bears!

Heh, it's worse when it's this cold - Grapevine and Cajon were closed all day yesterday and they even had to close the lower level mountain passes because of ice and snow.

This second weekend of March is being dominated by a storm whose chilly magnitude is more reminiscent of January, squeezing out heavy mountain snow (at relatively low elevations given the time of year) and thundershowers with hail. Its impact has been nothing short of amazing. Over an inch of snow fell in the hills northeast of Malibu, Calif. Two feet of snow has fallen at Big Bear Lake, northeast of Los Angeles. Whiteout conditions were reported below Cajon Pass on I-5 and I-215. Snow covered I-10 just west of Palm Springs, Calif. The San Diego metro area also took a hard hit. Pea-size hail up an inch deep accumulated near Carlsbad Saturday afternoon thanks to a thunderstorm. A flood-control channel was overtopped along I-8 in the east San Diego metro. Heavy snow shut down I-8 in the San Diego County mountains.

This same sledgehammer storm also put an abrupt end to the record dry streak in Phoenix, Ariz. It had been dry (not even a trace of rain) the past 143 days at Sky Harbor Airport. The last rain was recorded on October 18. As of midday Saturday, around ¾ of an inch had fallen, and another ½ to 1 inch of rain could fall through early Sunday. Due to all the rain, afternoon temperatures lingered in the middle 40s in the valley, an average high more reminiscent of, say, Detroit this time of year. The first heavy snowfall of this parched winter season will continue to hammer the Mogollon Rim of Arizona through at least the first half of Sunday. Heavy snow warnings continue there. By the end of this event, Flagstaff could have 1-2 feet of new snow. This is impressive considering they had a paltry 2” of snow for the season before this storm. Significant snow will also blanket the rest of the Four Corners, namely southern Utah, southern Colorado, and northern New Mexico.

it'll be a snowy day in pasadena when UCLA wins the Pac-10 tourney!

Hopefully it'll be warmer next weekend - I'm not flying all the way to San Diego to be cold! Not that its really that far but with a one year old . . .

Just call NCCF Rainman.

definitely.

I was at a rainy game in Washington with him last year. In fact, everytime I've ever seen him, it's been raining.

Just like that guy from "So long and thanks for all the fish".

I remember that quite well; it was really raining hard a couple of times (including when I got to the stadium). I was surprised they got the game in. And to make matters worse, after waiting out the rain and watching the Cubs lose, I had a lengthy delay on the Metro due to a train breakdown.

After that discourse, I'm afraid to ask if we're going to go again this year.

Are you going to be able to catch any games in Washington this year?

This year I'm going to try to get to at least one game at Wrigley (which I haven't done for a few years). The timing of the Washington series conflicts with when I'll likely be vacationing (I'm not sure where yet), so if I do go to any road games this year it would likely be the weekend series in Atlanta in early September.

BTW, I can't claim responsibility for the rain in Phoenix, since that occurred when I was leaving, not when I was trying to go to a game. :D
