Cincy out. Hofstra out. Missouri State out.

That shocked me. I thought if there were a Big East team that wasn't going to make it, it'd be Seton Hall.

Michigan out too. Committee was on something this year. Even the seedings are way off. I'm gonna have to pick a lot of upsets in my bracket now.

Jim Nantz...who else in the ACC was worthy of a bid? Seriously. The # of bids per league have nothing to do with the relative strength of a league.

Evaluation is on a team-by-team basis. Honestly, I think teams like Alabama, Cal, and NC State don't have resume's worthy of making it either over several other teams that got left out.

the big ten did not do well.

6 teams? I'll take it; Michigan was weak.

Arizona is seeded ahead of Wisconsin (not that that one matters)? NC ahead of Illinois? Tennessee the same as OSU?

Even with a strong start to the year, the 9 seed came as no surprise to me. They stunk up the joint during the second half of the season with some really bad losses (see: North Dakota State).

This comes as no surprise to me; I'm impressed they didn't get a 10.

What BCS conference hasn't had a team in the final 4 since 2000? I'm not saying they shouldn't get the chance....what I'm saying is that these MM's do not prove it on the court. The computers and voters can say what they want but as I said earlier, do it on the court and prove you deserve to play there.

So, then the SEC deserves just their auto bid, since they haven't made the Final Four since 2000.

That's probably why they were on Jefferson Pilot. :D

2000 is still a lot better than 1979 and since 1979 how many SEC teams have won it all and been on the Final 4?

Let me say that I have a lot of respect for the Bucknell's and Gonzaga's and they have wonderful basketball programs and have the capability to beat any team in the tournament but they can't win 4 in a row.

96' ring a bell? :)

I'm defending your goofy conference and this is how you repay me?

96-97-98, I believe it was, for UK in the Final game, right?

Or was 97 a FF loss to Zona?

'97 was a loss to arizona in the championship game. don't forget our two elite eight appearances in the past five years either :P

syracuse with a #5? i think that's a bit high.

I thought we ought to get a 6 but I'm assuming their strength of schedule and RPI boosted them up there.

Does anyone know anything about Air Force and why they are in other than a nice 26-4 record?

Conference record is 12-4

RPI is a 38

Illinois is in a brutal bracket. No way they make the Final Four. None.

Probably been stated, but I didnt feel like searching through ten pages. I cannot fathom how Tennessee is a 2 seed. I just don't understand it. They finish second in the conference regular season and get knocked out early in the conference tournament, lose 4 of 6 to close out the season, and play in a weak conference and they get a two seed. I just don't understand it.

If Villanova plays a team that has a very good 4 or 5 and decent guards they have a good chance to lose. UConn has problems staying focused and if a team can jump on them early I think they could get knocked out.

Also, IMO the 16 seeds are the best I can remember.

What seed did Mizzou wind up getting?

Apple.

Air Force's best wins were Georgia Tech and another bottom Big Conference team. The committee just proved my point that I made earlier, MM's get credit for beating average or below average BCS conference teams while BCS teams don't get credit doing the same thing.

No way could this team go 8-8 in the BE, ACC or Big Ten. I agree with Jay Bilas that the Committee has given teams mixed signals by putting teams that didn't play anyone in while others that did in thier conference don't get in.

Yeah, Jay Bilas is on tv right now, and he's PISSED. He said Air Force and UAB are not deserving because they haven't beaten ANYONE outside of their conference (he emphasized that word, so I will to). They got in despite not playing anyone outside of their conference, but Florida State got snubbed for that very reason. He's also upset (as is everyone else) that Cincinnati didn't get in.

Seedings are horrible this year.

I agree that Air Force shouldn't be in. I disagree that UAB are not deserving. UAB is 24-6 and has won 21 of their last 25 games (the losses were @Minnesota, @Memphis, @UTEP which is a tough place to play, and @Memphis in the C-USA Tourney final).

The reason FSU got snubbed out is becuase of their SOS. 316 out of 317 NCAA D-I schools. That's awful, and FSU should be out, rightfully so.

Now, I think Missouri St. got jobbed. Did they deserve to get in over Air Force and Utah State? I would think so.

i'm no expert (or vols fan) but a quick look says they won the SEC East, were upset by a team that made it to the SEC title game, and only other loss to a non-tourney team was early to Oklahoma St. Early win against Texas as well.

Illionois, comparatively, had one fewer conference win, lost to two non-tournet teams (Penn St. and Michigan) and had non-con wins against UNC and Georgetown. I'm guessing a win over MSU in the BTT would have netted them the #3. A #2 was a pipe dream
