One quick mention by Chris De Luca of the Orioles possibly taking Todd Walker off of the Cubs hands. First time I've heard the Orioles as a possible destination for Walker.

Where would he play?

The Orioles could use him as a back-up at 2nd base, especially if Roberts is still out or slow coming back, and for Jeff Conine at 1st base (wow that's their 1st baseman?) --I guess.

Someone posted a Stark tidbit that they are worried that Roberts won't be healthy(elbow?).

Yes, Jayson Stark mentioned this first. Apparently, the Orioles fear that Roberts recovery from a dislocated elbow will be slow.

In exchange for whom though....who do the Orioles have that we would want?

Probably a minor leaguer or marginal ML player. Considering the lack of interest in Walker this offseason, I think Hendry will gladly take any offer he can get. Futhermore, I think Hendry wants to make room for Lugo at 2B.

A dislocated elbow is tough. I dislocated mine once. Getting it popped back in to place was the worst pain I've ever felt. Two guys held my should while another doctor grabbed my hand and jerked as hard as he could. On about the 15th yank it finally popped back into place. I immediately passed out. It was a very long time before I could straighten my arm out. That was about 5 yrs. ago and it still bothers me.

Yuck. What, is Baltimore our dumping grounds for players the organization doesnt like anymore?

Hendry: HEY! I have a great Idea, lets get rid of our third best offensive threat from last year for a marginal ML, or good minor league, talent! WOOOOO!!!

I can dislocate both my shoulders at will. No pain at all.

I dislocated a shoulder once too, but it went back into place on its own. It didn't hurt bad.

Me thinks should and elbow dislocation may not be synonymous. I've known others that have popped their shoulder out of place without a lot of pain.

Considering Hendry and Walker supposedly had a "gentleman's agreement" that JH wouldn't ship him out without Walker's approval (and the little thing that, oh yeah, he's our THIRD BEST HITTER right now), the possibility of him getting shipped out to Baltimore - to be a backup - without netting the Cubs anything of any value should be enough to send Hendry directly to hell.

How about we get Lugo first before we trade away our best alternate option?

IMO Walker> Lugo. Hendry would be downgrading. Again.

Just about everybody knows that erik, but you know Hendry isnn't looking for or to keep hitters, he's looking for guys who can catch the ball.

There is no comparison: Walker is a 2B & Lugo is a SS

There has been a good deal of speculation that Lugo would move to 2B with Cedeno remaining at SS if we were to acquire him.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again. Trading Walker for anything that doesn't upgrade the talent on this team is an assinine and defenseless move.

BUT HE CAN CATCH THE BALL!! DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!ONE

i still say that if it's okay to just screw walker over after picking up his option and saying we wouldn't trade him, we should've benched maddux for the last month so his option didn't vest.

Have the Cubs really screwed Walker? I know picking up his option was a security blanket, for the team, but in doing so he has been guaranteed a job next season at 2.5M. Had he been forced into FA, he might have been relegated to NRI status or to take a million or more dollar paycut as a backup. Teams don't seem to be very interested in his services.
