Andy versus the NSBB board - Round 2. Maybe this time I won't be TKO'd in the 2nd round.

Carolina beat two teams that had defeated it in the regular season last time they were in the playoffs. I like our chances if we can play the way we did today. Supremely dominant performance on one of the best offenses in the league this season.

And Truffle...I hate NASCAR.

Ha, just recieved 4 tickets section 205 from a client who will be out of the country during the game.

What the heck does a Packer fan do with 4 Bears playoff tickets... Hmmm...

Giving them to Cubbies75, probably the best option.

Giving them to ndistops so he can go and root against the Bears just like you would, probably the best option.

Fixed.

Actually, I don't have a passionate hate towards the Bears. If it was a Viking game I might just rip the tickets up out of spite. I have roots in North Carolina as I spent my college days at Chapel Hill but never really liked the Panthers. Either way, it should be a great atmosphere and fun to watch a playoff football game in another stadium besides Lambeau.

Have you ever been to Soldier Field?

Yes, although I do not particularly like the inside of the stadium, the outside/surroundings sure do beat Green Bay...

Haha ohh, I was gonna say the exact opposite. Well the surroundings are cool because it's Chicago, but I thought the outside of the renovated stadium looked awful, but I was very pleased with the way it looked on the inside.

i would have rather played the giants, we just match up better against them. that said, i'd rather play the panthers than the redskins or bucs. it's not much of a difference, though.

the only thing i'm worried about is that we aren't a team built on the coach's ability to adjust, we're a team based on the ability of the players to adjust and excel because of speed and intelligence. don't expect lovie or rivera to change the game plan due to the previous one not working. this is where we're vulnerable, and fox is agood enough coach to make the necessary adjustments from last game and stick it down our throats.

we'll see what happens. hopefully, the rest will have rejuvenated the defense and we'll simply destroy them.

Is this exclusively for this game, or the divisional games in General.

If not, is it implied to have a thread for the other 3 games?

My biggest worry is that the Panthers absolutely shut down Tiki Barber, and Barber >>>>>> Thomas Jones. Without a good running performance, Grossman could be exposed. Here's hoping I'm wrong

I still think the 1st team offense should have started the last game in Minnesota. IMO Rex really would have benefited from another start, and the whole offense was terrible for large stretches of the season, so really the whole unit needed more work, especially with a new QB running the show. With a bye week I think it was overcautious to sit out all the offensive starters. They will now end up getting 3 weeks of rest instead of 2. If Rex is shaky Lovey will justifiably get some criticism for it.

I guarantee that if Carolina wins, Thomas Jones will have had under 50 rushing yards just as Tiki did. That's the only way we can win.

I also agree with Sulley re: Fox's adjustments. The Panthers beat two teams who'd beaten them in the regular season last time they made the playoffs (Dallas and Philly). I expect, if nothing else, this game to be much better than the last one.

Bears stats from the previous meeting:

Orton: 15/26, 136 yards, 1/1

Jones: 25/87, 0 TDs

Peterson: 4/37, 0 TDs

It's not the skill players that the Panthers need to stop, although Grossman adds a whole new dimension that they didn't see before and the running game should be more productive. The game was clearly won by the Bears linemen. Mr. Happy-feet himself Kyle Orton wasn't sacked at all while the Bears brought down Delhomme 8 times. The pressure, if I recall correctly, forced two huge Vasher interceptions that gave the offense a very short field. And don't forget that the Panthers fumbled it 3 times (2 by Delhomme and 1 by Smith), only to recover them.

If the lines can take control of the game from the beginning, which they should at Soldier Field, we'll be playing for a trip to the Super Bowl.
