... and that is why college sports will always be better than professional sports (except baseball).

Just my opinion. What an amazing game.

agreed. The NFL and NBA don't come close to matching the intensity of college football and college basketball.

Winning for a school/students always trumps winning for a city (read: winning for cash)

Meanwhile college baseball doesn't get a large enough following.

Probably because the powerhouse programs aren't in major cities (or the east coast)

actually, I think having more drafted college players hitting the pros faster will help. get rid of the PING factor too. But then again, nobody I knew went to college baseball games.

I think USC did lose. Texas played a great game but I think that Reggie Bush attempted "lateral" that turned into a fumble was a hugh mistake. That was the difference in the game.

Leinart is saying that USC lost (instead of Texas won).

yeah i saw that too. Me and my buddies pretty much said the same thing about him. USC's offense did a great job against Texas' defense, but they did not lose the game. Vince Young stepped up and won it. Why couldn't Leinart just man up to Texas and say they played one hell of a ballgame?

Man, and I thought Leinart was a decent guy.

Although Young was being a jerk for saying whose the real Heisman. Bush is. He won it. Come back next year and win it.

Does anyone else think that colleges are going to start recruiting great athletes and try to make them into double threat QB's? Is this where football is headed?

Probably. But then again there are not that many VYoung's or Michael Vick's around. I wonder what would happen if Bush was a QB on his HS team instead of RB, and was recruited as a QB?

I don't think there will be a movement. While there will be players like Vick and Young, they will be rare and being QB is a very difficult position. Throwing the ball accurately is really hard.

Micheal Robinson is an example of a very athletic WR moved to QB, and while he has had some success, he probably won't make a big splash in the NFL, at least not as a QB, but I could see him moved back to WR.

Matt Jones from Arkansas is a freakish athlete, and had success in college with not much around him. He was moved to WR. Like you said, Robinson will probably get a shot in the NFL at WR. Randle El is a WR.

That's true. Bush deserved to win the Heisman no doubt, and is without question the better pro prospect.

and i agree with you about that. I like the guy, but cmon...Vince had an awesome game, but to do the Heisman thing was pretty out of line.

me too. but you don't say that. USC didn't come out with intensity in the first half and this time there was a team good enough to take advantage.

Carroll really cost his team with improper preparation for VY's rushing and offensive tendencies.

That's what I said earlier. Which LB was spying Young all game? Apparently no one

I think he may get a shot as a QB somewhere, he is a very athletic and does have a pretty good head, but will more than likely end up a WR/Kick returner. I also think he may end up a safety.

If the Heisman voting ended tomorrow, I would bet that the race would be much closer than it was in December.

I know he's an aggressive guy, but I really would've made Texas go the extra 30+ yards by punting that last 4th down. Clock would've been a much bigger enemy for UT then.

he needed an urlacher to spy on him. I was shocked there was no spy on that last TD. 13 other teams had the same problem though.

i'm sure it was mentioned earlier in the thread (don't want to go back 15 or so pages) but why in the heck did he call for a timeout on the 2 point conversion? He pretty much set himself up for Texas to win after that seeing they couldn't stop the clock at all on their final drive. Carroll definitely did not have his greatest game ever coaching.

of course, heck, Young would probably win. But it isn't tomorrow.

That's true. They looked flat in the first half but Texas is a better team than Arizona State or Oregon so they were not able to come back and hold the lead.

I liked the move going for it. They should have just let the Youngs score faster!

I personally don't think he called it. I think a player called it. He looked pissed after it was called.

I don't think Carroll called the last timeout, I saw a USC DB call it. All 3 of the USC timeouts in the second half were avoidable. Delay of game, Carroll sprinting up the sidelines on a third down for the second, and that one.

I would have gone for it, especially with how good White was doing against this defense.
