Tejada is ridiculous.

He's starting to sound like Manny!

I was about to post the same thing. Tejada sounds like a little girl. Shut up and play, Miggy, you're getting paid $12MM/year to play baseball, act like a man and quit yer moping.

Don't really want him based on baseball numbers, but his whining makes me want him even less. Let's move on.

So there is no chance the media took off with an out of context quote that was attributed to Tejada weks ago, and has since continued to fuel the manufactured fire?

I'm not inclined to pin the media circus surrounding this on Tejada. Often times in these cases, the original quote doesn't even come from the player, but an associate of the player. And in Tejada's case, there is even a language barrier to consider with the media.

Ha. At this rate how long do you think he'd play on the cubs before demanding a trade? Two weeks?

Good point. Look at these 2nd half numbers too:

July: .330 .377 .557

August: .277 .314 .411

September: .265 .317 .368

What a dropoff. At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, there have been steroid allegations as well----from none other than Raffy himself. Canseco has said he's suspicious of Tejada....

Plus he's a malcontent.

That's enough for me. Stay away.

He's a good shorstop, but I just think we can trade for some LF who's going to put up similar to better numbers than Tejada (think Luis Gonzalez) and it would cost us much less trade-wise. There's no way we should be giving up Prior in any deal. Move on Jim Hendry. Move on.

I do not know about you guys, but I am really tired of all this back and forth. JH should just simply leave it alone and not buy into the games the O's are playing. I am tired of logging on every morning to see what else is happening and who else is changing their minds. The deal is on the table. No, it was a rumor and never really offered. Wait, it is still there. Oh, come on. I am tired of caring too much.

Fair enough. I know for my part I will lose exactly zero sleep if this whole thing fades away and is forgotten sooner rather than later.

Talking about the attendance in Wrigley. The seats were a lot smaller back then. I believe it was the late 50's when they updated them the first time and then again in the 70's and 80's. If I remember correctly from a book I read. Max back then was around 49,000.

"I want to be traded."

"I didn't say I wanted to be traded, I am just frustrated."

"I want to be traded."

I think he's starting to sound more like A-Rod.

I'm not inclined to pin the media circus surrounding this on Tejada. Often times in these cases, the original quote doesn't even come from the player, but an associate of the player. And in Tejada's case, there is even a language barrier to consider with the media.

If you read the link to the quotes, it's pre-faced by a couple paragraphs:

I write you this evening from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Earlier this evening I was at Estadio Quisqueya, where I had a chance to interview Miguel Tejada before his winter-league team played a game.

- He's in Santo Domingo; logically, one would assume that this reporter has at least some experience with the Spanish language.

- He claims to have personally interviewed Miguel Tejada himself.

So to answer your question: yes, there is a chance that this is all fabricated by the media. I doubt it, though. There's nothing in this most recent interview to suggest that Tejada has other views than what have already been expressed.

Furthermore, if you look at this quote...

"I thought I [would] put pressure and we'll see," he said. "You can't tell me it cannot happen. What's Toronto doing? They're a whole new team, new players, new everything. ... The division we are in, it's not easy. You have to get the right players to be competitive here."

That all-but-ensures that he had previously discussed this issue with the media personally, not through a representative.

I don't want to sit here and argue semantics with you, because it's stupid. If you don't believe in these stories, don't post in here. You don't have to insult me and make it sound like I'm a gullable fan starving for news just because I react to an article..

The Orioles' FO responding to Tejada's latest remarks:

Baltimore Sun

"It has not forced our hand any," said Orioles executive vice president Mike Flanagan. "We're still talking to teams. I can't say it's winding down, picking up. It's been about the same."

Besides agitating several Orioles officials, Tejada's public stance may be counterproductive.

"I actually think in some ways, saying what he said publicly, it hurts our chances of trading him," Duquette said. "There is a perception in the marketplace that we now have to trade him and you'll take less than value for him.

"One thing we have been clear about is that we are not trading him unless we get value. No matter what he thinks or says, we will not trade him until we get value."

Whether he stays or goes, Orioles manager Sam Perlozzo would like a chance to hear Tejada's gripes first-hand. Perlozzo has twice left messages on Tejada's answering machine, but neither was returned. Since then, at least one of Tejada's Orioles teammates has left a message on the machine and almost immediately received a response from the shortstop.

"My frustration is that I wish Miggy would call me back," Perlozzo said. "My frustration comes in the fact that we don't need to discuss this in the media. I wish he'd call me so I could tell him what we want to do."

Either there is a part to this story we are not hearing (like the GM is a jerk, and Tejada just does not want to talk to him) or Tejada is a jerk, and a sissy, amoung other things.

I've heard it all is a result of the Orioles signing Hernandez who supposedly slept with Tejada's wife. Take that for what it's worth.

Maybe we should have Ryno give him a consoling phone call.

He'd just scold him for ever talking to Sammy Sosa.

*still upset about HOF speech*
