Pretty amazing. I am sure at the other big ten arenas that one would have got overturned. Nice game again by James Augustine, maybe when he is a senior he will stop letting those guys shoot right in his face and step up like the biggest guy on the floor and get that last rebound. Pathetic. Congrats to psu they played great. I would say Iowa is gotta be the favorite after today.

Last time I checked, Augestine is a senior now.

Yeah I am aware. I am also aware he has cost us a national championship with his disappearing act. You would think a senior would play better than that. Every game in the last three years we have lost was because he was in foul trouble. Every single one.

Oh please, it wasn't only his fault that we lost the NC game. And don't give me that crap about him being the fault we have lost every game in the last three years. That's not true and you know it.

I would say that Dee Brown's abysmal shooting cost you at least this game plus the Iowa game. I think his NBA prospects are slipping daily.

Let me tell you what happened. Illinois started 13-0 Dee and McBride jumped around pointed at PSU, then we coaxed. Up 14 at half. The Randle and Augustine decide to get in one of your guys face. Then we don't review the clock when Smith is fouled with 2.6sec. the clock sets at 2.2. McBride makes a shot a.0001 of a second to late. We deserve the loss though as we mailed it in.

sounds exciting. Surprising that the clock thing wasn't reviewed....you'd think the Illini would get home court advantage on that sort of decision

Ok then I guess it is ok for the guy to not improve his entire 4 years with us. In fact I would say he has regressed. He used to shoot threes decent as a freshman. Lets see The Ohio State game we lost because they pwned us on the boards and we couldn't guard Dials. The national championship game we lose as he doesn't score and wastes two fouls against Felton over ten feet from the hoop. The Iowa game, well ok that one we got handed to us, but again he was in foul trouble. The Indiana game, he sats almost half the game that we lose by two withed you guessed it foul trouble. Then this game, where he has a 5 inch advantage on every guy on the court he is in foul trouble the entire time and outta position on the crucial rebound. Yeah The guy is a waste of talent.

Ah they didn't argue, they deserved to lose. They took you guys for granted and then tried to act all superior and lost as a result of it. I cannot believe that Dee let this happen. I would not want to be in practice with them tomorrow.

Dee shot 25%. He doesn't look nearly as good when he doesn't have Head and Williams there to bail him out on bad shooting nights.

they don't play until next Sunday either, right? Should be a fun week.

with iowa's tendency to choke as the big ten schedule winds down, i doubt the game @ Illinois will mean anything anyway. but if it does, i cannot see iowa winning. Illinois played horribly @ Iowa and still kept it close msot of the game. If they show up at home they should win easily.

Typical Illinois fan.

oh jeez, if iowa had won back-to-back outright titles, you guys would be saying the same thing. plus iowa has always been our chief rival, imo (having grown up on the border), and the blood will always be bad between fans of the two teams.

Gotta agree with that - I had a roomate at Iowa during the Chuck Long years who- if you ask him today what his single greatest moment as a Hawkeye fan was will say 11-9-85. Iowa 59 - Illini 0 and it wasn't even that close. Thats how bad the blood is.

What a shocking day in the Big Ten. Iowa wins by 30 over Michigan, Penn State wins at Illinois and Purdue beats Wisconsin.

As thrilled as I am about being all alone in 1st place, I'm also a little worried about how we'll handle it. We've been at the top with 2-4 other teams recently. Now we're a game up on everyone and you worry about us playing tight. Hopefully our experienced guys won't let it happen. We have to win at Northwestern, we just can't let them derail us again.

This week Indiana plays Wisconsin and Iowa, Ohio State plays Michigan and Illinois in the big games. MSU should beat Purdue and Minnesota.

Not trying to kick Illinois when they're down (really I'm not) but Illinois fans were just ragging on us for rushing the court after the Indiana win. And tonight the Orange Krush storms the court after thinking they beat PSU?

I'm seriously not trying to start a pissing match, I just find it ironic.

I agree. You shouldn't celebrate beating a crap team like Penn State at home on a fluke shot that ended up not counting.

Looked silly.

When we have a 33-game home win streak and tinkled away a huge lead only the hit the last shot at the buzzer? I don't think there has ever been a situation in the last several years where so many people were so tight, once he hit the three, they burst.

And by the way...I think Dee Brown's shooting is awful this season. People forget that because they see him hit shots from 5-10 feet behind the line, and that's great and all...but he just hasn't been shooting well.

The Croatian "pipeline" continues for Northwestern. They received a verbal commitment from 6'8'' forward Nikola Baran, formerly a top player on the Croation under-18 team.

Pretty well. Tolic may never have been healthy and Duvancic was only decent, but Vedran has been one of the better players in the program's history. And he's finally healthy this year. The system is well-suited for taller guys who can play outside and Baran is the third 6'8'' recruit to commit in the past few months.

James Augustine was a cause in us losing the national championship game but not the cause. Shooting 27% in the first half was the cause of us losing the national championship. Augustine is really not better now than he was his sophomore year and I'm somewhat of an Augustine fan. He will go down, in my opinion, with Richard Keene and Larry Smith as the biggest Illinois basketball underachievers.

Anybody who doesn't think Illinois' success rests largely on Augustine being on the floor, hasn't watched Illinois basketball, particularly the Wisconsin game. And as I told people at the beginning of the season, Dee Brown is not a leader. He's a good player and the best interview, but he's not a leader. Yeah, I miss Williams, Head and Powell, but, honestly, I think we might be undefeated (at most one loss) if we had Jack "the most underrated player last year" Ingram.

Amen to that. In all of the close games Jack made a ton of the big plays. Look at the Arizona game. Strangley enough James had fouled out early, Jack comes in and makes every big play down the stretch.

i'm pretty upset over this loss. the sports gods don't seem to ber with UI right now. i mean, it's not fair that a team like PSU gets to beat the hell out of us during football season and then beat us in a sport in which we're supposed to be better.

I'm PO as well, should have never been that close in the first place. I guess our only recourse is to hope they learn from this loss, use it to play stronger down the stretch. I'd like to see the Illini play PSU in the Big Ten tournament, those gimmick zones combined with Parker having the game of his life worked once, will it work again?
