From this morning, levine is cohosting today. the big topic is the "would you trade prior for tejada?"

- said that no player on this team is "untouchable", if it makes sense it makes sense.

Two offers on the table, one is a young package and the other the prior/tejada deal mentioned in another thread.

OFFER A: Guzman, Hill, Patterson, and Dopirak for Tejada. Orioles dont want Cedeno, they will sign like an Alex Gonzalez to fill the SS role.

OFFER B: Prior and Hill for Tejada, Bedard and one of their top OF prospects (didn't hear who as my damn radio cut out right as they mentioned the name.)

While he did say anybody could be traded, he is not sure if he would do it or not.

jeeze, offer "A" seems so much better for the Orioles, they get two guys to plug into their rotation who will be cheap and theirs for years, a diamond in the rough (Corey), and a good prospect in Dope...

If the O's did that deal it'd be epic bad. It'd be one of those deals O's fans would talk about in disgust 50 years later.

Baltimore's GM should be shot if he makes the above A deal. If "A" was Z, Hill, Pie, and Dopriak it MIGHT be enough.

Ha! This is like a bad dream on a carousel. It just keeps coming back around and around and around.

Ya know. The Cubs could have just SIGNED Tejada when he was a FREE AGENT! :twak:

Oh, wait. We still had a year left of Alex Gonzalez, so no, there was no way Hendry could do that.

If the Cubs trade Prior for Tejada, I will be taking a long break from Cub baseball.

That is absurd.

Z alone is more than enough. Z is pre peak, Tejada is post-peak. Miggy is great, but he's not without faults. He's probably only got a couple years left being among the elite, and in his early 30's he will start to decline, and might have to move to another position within 3-5 years, where his offensive *output* is much less impressive. Zambrano has a good 6-9 years where he can be an elite pitcher, which he is right now. You're talking about a top 10 pitcher and a top 10 position player. But the position player is older, and he will fall out of the top 10 within a couple years.

*I first wrote update instead of output, possibly because I was in the middle of watching an update saying the striking TWU is going back to driving the trains*

That makes this whole thing feel even worse. Why can't we just get it right for once? I can already see the Cubs trading rising stars Brian Dopirak and Sean Marshall in 2009 for an aging Rafael Furcal.

As will I. I can deal with offer A. Offer B will send me into a deep, dark, unsupressable rage.

Prior and Z are the anchors of this rotation. Even with Tejada we'd still have holes in our offense and would need to rely heavily on our pitching this year.

If it's offer B and Levine is right and the Orioles take it....... well, I can't say what I'd say because it's against the rules on NSBB to wish a painful death on Jim Hendry.

I don't know about that. I have some friends just outside of Baltimore that say after Tejada's coments about wanting a trade. They say let him go and get as many prospects and a major league pitcher or 2.

I know its anger talking but, I'm not so sure that a lot of O's fans are ready to see him go.

If Prior's dealt, he's a lock for the Hall of Fame. They better get one helluva return.

No kidding, I'm sure by the time Prior's career is over, IF HE STAYS HEALTHY, he will have a few Cy Youngs.

I know last year most injuries were freak related....here's hoping 2006 is injury free.

How in the hell did Pie and Hill get untouchable labels and Prior somehow never got his?

When the Cubs were handing out untouchable labels, he thought they said untuckable navels, and he didn't want an outtie.

For what it's worth, the O's top outfield prospect is Nick Markakis (L/L).

Per scouts: More than ehld his own in AFL, though not so much power-wise. But he is legitimate. Started last year in the Carolina League, ripped it up, moved up to Double-A Bowie and performed there, then went to the Fall League. Just turned 22 in November. He hit .300 with good power in Frederick, he hit .339 with Bowie and then hit .326 with Peoria in the AFL. Prototypical right fielder...he's got a cannon for an arm...originaly looked at as a pitcher.

Will grow into his power. Won home run derby in the Carolina/California League All-Star Game, then hit a couple of homers in the game itself. He does have power. He had 12 homers and 62 RBIs in 350 at-bats for Frederick. Long term a Shawn Green-like player. Projected .300 and eventually will have 25-30-homer power.

Don't worry - we'll sign him back to the Cubs when he's 38, and past his prime, but we'll still overpay for him.

:puker: Tejada for Prior :pukel:
