Im not sure if this was already poseted and if it has been i appologize..

If, as the Baltimore Sun reports, the Birds aren't interested in Prior, the Red Sox might be...This has all the makings of a terrific round of musical chairs. The Orioles, aware and wary of the trade wishes expressed by Tejada earlier this month, are listening to the Cubs but, reports the Sun, would prefer obtaining workhorse Carlos Zambrano. The Cubs, conversely, are asking for lefty Erik Bedard to be included in any deal and aren't interested in parting with another of the Orioles' requests -- prime outfield prospect Felix Pie.

"Carlos Zambrano and Mark Prior are not going to be traded by the Chicago Cubs," Hendry said.

So what about this quote from the winter meetings? Either Prior has made it known that he wouldn't mind such a trade, Hendry was blatantly lying, or this deal is purely speculative. I'd be shocked if anything were to come of this, especially over the holiday.

As far as we know, the conversation went something like this:

JH: Hey, if you ever get around to trading Miggy, we'd sure like to have him.

MF: Yeah, we'd like to have Prior.

JH: Good talk, Mike.

MF: O.K. Jim, talk to you later.

Maybe I'm hoping against hope, but I think Prior will still be a Cub come April.

I'm past hoping. I'm praying. I'm ready to sacrifice a bear cub to appease the baseball gods.

Prior, CP, and Hill for Manny and Clement?

If CP, Hill, Cedeno, Pie, and Williams would get Manny and Dustin Pedroia, I could live with Neifi at SS for a season and pay all of Manny's contract.

...hendry's asinine 'pitching, defense and speed' kick

Yeah, that crap NEVER works.

give the entire pitching staff career years and let the mediocre offense come up with a timely hit whenever it's needed and we, too, can win the world series!

these types of posts are getting old.

Quick question guys: Who's the pitching coach in Baltimore?

You give Prior 1 or 2 seasons with him, and you can have him fitted for his bust in the Hall of Fame. I couldn't live with seeing another Cubs pitcher go on to have a hall of fame career with another team. Hell, it's hard enough to watch Dontrelle turn into one of the best in the league. I'm praying this was just all talk and there is no real merit to it. But Hendry doesn't seem too eager to shoot down any rumors.

Hence the reason, I am becoming less of a fan of the propose Tejada/Prior deal.

I want Tejada, but after remember who is the PC in Baltimore, I say forget now.

I really hope that Jimbo keeps Prior. Injuries? I know about the elbow tendenitis but the broken arm was a fluke as was the collision a couple of years ago. I feel pretty good with Cedeno at short. Still pretty optimistic about the chances this summer 8)

I went to check if there were any other Prior's in our organisation that maybe we could hoodwink the O's into taking in the deal, you know, instead of the Mark Prior, but no luck with that. No other Prior's. He's the one and only.

I did find these though...

Mark McGuire, Executive Vice President, Business Operations

David Knickerbocker, Account Executive (in Marketing Department)

Mike Hill, Manager, Event Operations/Security (Stadium Operations Department)

Leo Sosa, Ticket Sales Representative (Ticket Operations Department)

So, I say we trade the O's Sosa, again, send them Hill if they really want him and like his curveball, and throw in Mark McGuire to see if Angelos can spell correctly (I somewhat doubt it).

But don't send them Mark Prior! That'd just be silly.

I'm hoping that JH can wait long enough and the Orioles will see that their not going to get the price they want for Tejada. Hopefully, then the price will come down to young players and prospects (excluding Prior). Also, a 3-team deal might be worked out (like the mentioned A's deal) where a ton of prospects goes in a deal involving some players like Zito and Tejada.

I'm hoping, deep down inside, that this is the reason nothing has been done. I'm thinking maybe Hendry doesn't want to part with Prior and is trying to get Zito involved in going to the O's. The only holdup is that they want us to part with Guzman+Hill+Pie+probably another arm, and Jimmy don't want to do it.

Is that being overly optimistic or just plain stupid?

Hendry was on ESPN radio 1000 around 11am did anybody hear what he said? I heard tidbits unrelated to the Prior trade.

There's a summary in the other Tejada thread.
