Now there's a Boston Globe wire report (according to WSCR) that has a 4 way deal with the Cubs and White Sox, Red Sox and O's.

Supposedly we'd get Tejada and Garland.

Cubs send Prior to the White Sox, Hill and Patterson to the O's.

O's send Tejada to the Cubs, Bedard to the White Sox, Markakis to the Red Sox.

Red Sox send Manny to O's, b-level prospect to White Sox.

White Sox send Garland and Prior to Cubs.

Is that the 4-way they were talking about?

Prior ends up back on the Cubs...sweet!

From an Orioles message board, some guy who talked with his "Cubs guy":

"Tejada, Bedard for Hill, Patterson, Prior has been turned down by the Orioles about 8 times.

Orioles refuse to do this deal without Pie. We want something like Prior, Pie, Hill for Bedard, Tejada. Cubs want a little something more, a reliever, julio might get it done."

Can't we get Matt Karchner instead of Garland?

I HIGHLY doubt that the only additional player it's going to take to get Hendry to throw in Pie is Jorge Julio.

Hendry simply will not send Prior, Hill and Pie while only getting Tejada, Bedard and Julio in return. He's way too high on Hill and Pie to accept that.

This makes me wonder if Hendry can just go to the Phils and see if they would do an Abreu for Prior trade.

If Hendry trades Pie, Hill AND Prior....it's bye bye time.

From the Boston Globe:

For now, the Orioles' talks with the Cubs are more advanced than with anyone else, though sources on both sides said nothing was imminent last night. There has been talk, as there is wont to be in these matters, of various three- or four-team scenarios, the most ambitious rumor one in which the Orioles would wind up with Ramírez and White Sox pitcher Jon Garland, the Cubs would get Tejada, the White Sox would get Bedard, and the Red Sox would receive Prior. That sounds like it belongs in the ho, ho, ho category, however.

They won't make that trade.

I'm thinking that everyone is going to continue freaking out about this possible trade for the next few weeks until it comes out that Prior will not be traded.

Then everyone will breathe a big sigh of relief.

Then we'll quickly realize that the Cubs still suck.

That's different. If it's the deal that was just posted a big no but if it was for Manny and Tejada then yeah I'd do it.

I'd rather suck with Prior than with Tejada. That way, in two years after Hendry's been fired, we can at least build around a good pitching staff.

And what makes you think Prior won't bolt the second he hits free agency?

Sorry if this has been posted already:

According to two industry sources, there was some preliminary discussion between the Orioles, Cubs and Oakland Athletics on a three-way deal that included Miguel Tejada, Erik Bedard, Mark Prior and Oakland ace Barry Zito among others heading to new homes. But at this point, the A's asking price for Zito appears to be sky-high. -- Baltimore Sun

What does it say about Cedeno that Stockwell has no interest in him? I wonder why he would feel that way.

That's a pretty good point. I've been one of the most recent to jump on Ronny's bandwagon. I was a naysayer for a while. Stockstill should know Cedeno well, but he also knows Pie very well - and that's who they really, really want.

I hate to say it but I hope you are right. Getting rid of Prior is not a good thing.

We need to walk away from this right now. Teams should be overpaying the Cubs for Prior. We could have gotten the world for him a year ago. The Cubs need to cut their losses as SS.

THERE IS NO REASON TO TRADE PRIOR TO MAKE UP FOR THE INEPTITUDE THE CUBS HAVE SHOWN IN SIGNING FREE AGENTS.

I've got a bad feeling that this is really going to happen. I'm going to be sick.

Our starting pitching is already pretty shaky.

I'm not sure how we replace that big a hole in the rotation? He's our best, or 2nd best pitcher and we really have nothing else after Z & P?

What good is Tejada putting up 120 RBIs when you can't stop anyone from scoring?

Is Prior really hurt worse than anyone has said, or maybe Hendry has lost confidence in his ability to stay healthy now?

I've got lots of questions about this one. Whenever that happens, I usually shy away. We'll see though. This is the kind of deal that has "RISK" written all over it in big, bold, red letters.

I can' t believe that I am saying this...but I would rather have Neifi playing with Prior pitching than Miggy playing and Rusch pitching...

please forgive me for that statement of Neifi playing - I am going to wash my mouth out now...

And what makes you think he will? Besides, the Cubs have Prior under control through 2008. Tejada can demand a trade one year after being traded.
