mark r dont most fans of most teams make excusses when their team losses a close game. Then you throw in the fact that this game was so horribly reffed. If it was Mich St that lost like that I would probably be chanting all kinds of excusses. I am not sure who your favorite team is but you would probably be doing the same.

In retrospect I dont think the last play was the worst. I think it was Carr having to use 2 timeouts to get a replay made. On top of the fact that the fumble on Neb 1st touchdown drive in the 1st quarter wasnt even reviewed. I dont know which way that would have went but it sure should have been reviewed. I am trying not to defend Mich and like I said in an earlier post some of the bad calls surely went against Neb. I just agree with Tirico and Herbstreit if you have instant replay use it. What is really a joke is you go ahead and review it after the timeout is called. What changed after the timeout was called? In neither case did Neb rush to get the next play off. Both plays should have been clearly reviewed before a timeout had to be taken. Luckily for all involved they got the calls right after the review.

Lets play a game: Guess the Michigan's fans response:

Excuses?

No response?

Who knew, TOSU jumps right onto this topic?

I cannot wait til we play the Irish. Tressel's gameplan has to be exploiting matchups with Ginn. He cannot let that game end without at least 15 OFFENSIVE touches for him. He'll light up that porous D.

And if we lose, which we won't, I'll be back here after coming back from the Bulls game, ironically enough going to the game with a Michigan fan (it all comes back full circle) taking my lumps from the ND Cheerleaders.

I remember saying something along the lines of "I hope you enjoy losing" to the PSU faithful prior to that matchup. What happened? OSU lost 17-10 and I stopped in and admitted the better team won.

well Michigan losing ruined my perfect streak in ESPN's Bowl Pick'Em thing..I was 10-0 before Michigan decided to choke away an 11 point lead.

what a finish though. If that lineman makes the pitch to Breaston, Michigan wins. Don't really understand why he didn't pitch it there. I don't like Michigan much and I hate them even more now that they screwed up my perfect streak :x

I think they have plenty. I would start with the reffing if I were them.

Is Michigan even in a bowl game if they don't get questionable calls by the refs in the PSU game? I'm asking because I legitimately do not know.

They went 7-4 with the PSU win, and they're Michigan, so they definitely would've been in a bowl. Maybe not the Alamo(of course crappiness didn't stop them from putting Nebraska in there), but definitely some bowl.

Agreed, 6-5 gets you in a bowl

No excuses necessary. They lost because they fumbled the ball twice and gave up a huge punt return in the last 8 minutes. The refs didnt help, but thats not why they lost.

The only thing i will remember and get so pissed at is why Ecker didnt pitch to Breaston, if only he would of done that it would of been the most exciting finish of Michigan football i had ever seen. Instead its just a 'what if' play. They executed that play so well by not having anyone go down with the footbal and then Ecker does it with Breaston right behind him and calling for it. Look at Breaston on the sideline after Ecker runs out of bounds. He cant believe it and is bending over holding his head, he was so close to one of the most historic touchdowns ever.

I can't believe I haven't heard anybody else talk about this part of the play. That was just so stupid.

I watched that play over and over. If anyone gets the opportunity, take a close look at at least 1 Michigan blocker (I use the word blocker loosely) at about the 25-30 yard line. He and others had already given up on the play. Michigan very easily could have gotten into the end zone on that play with:

1. A cut back to the inside rather than down the sideline.

2. A lateral to the quicker guy trailing the runner.

3. The runner ran past 2 blockers who hadn't given up on the play.

4. The other blockers who DID give up on the play staying in there ahead of the runner.

Split second decisions, I know. But, Michigan had a golden opportunity to get into the endzone. It appeared that only the few guys who ended up being in on the tackle were the only one's on that team that didn't give up on the play.

Agreed. I only saw the replay a couple of times, but didn't they have the numbers? FWIW I recall Michigan staff on the field, which probably led to that blocker thinking the play was over.

for some reason if they did score I think that a flag would have been thrown for players being on the field. It would have been offsetting and the play would have to be redone.

Also lost in this whole thing is how good Neb defense was. 3 of Mich TDs were on short fields. They also stopped Mich once after a int and held them to a FG attempt that was missed. Mich really only had one long drive all game. Several of Mich completions were exceptional individual plays from covered recievers. They also controlled the running game. In honesty except for maybe sp teams Neb really controlled this game

I'm not sure the officials would have ever been able to clear the field if they threw a flag AFTER Michigan scored the touchdown.

Some of the people already on the field weren't players or coaches.

Much more chaos would have ensued if Michigan scored on that play. The Nebraska players were the first to enter the field of play when the fumble occured back at the 30 yard line.

I will say this the referees are lucky that there wasnt a score, could you have imagined the chaos that would have followed if they did. If you went by the rules there should have been offsetting penalties on the play though, with a replay of down.

Ugh. News out of S. Florida is that AJ Nicholson, starting LB for Florida State is suspended for the Orange Bowl while being investigated for alleged sexual misconduct (possibly rape).

Not what you ever want to see or hear about, let alone from a team you follow and support. Not too sure what happened to this kid this year, but he's sure turned out to be involved in too many allegations that will send a first day NFL pick down into Round 4 or so.

So how long before there becomes a serious movement to get rid of Lloyd Carr at Michigan?

His ass will be on the line next year big time. They have talented players returning. He wont have any excuses.

My Huskers are on the upswing! In all fairness, the referees were horrible, but they called the game horrible for both sides. I feel bad about Lloyd having to burn 2 timeouts, but a win is a win. This is a game that no one in their right mind was picking Nebraska to win, and we did just to spite all of the bastards. I can't wait till next season.

If anyone's a betting man out there, I'd recommend taking Va Tech against Louisville.

Louisville has a strong offense, but is without one starting defensive end AND their golden-boy QB.

Running Back Michael Bush returns from an ankle injury, and he's a future 1st or 2nd round draft pick, but UL lives and dies through the air, and without their atarting QB, VaTech should win by 2+ TDs.

I am never shocked when a player from one of the Big 3 Florida schools is arrested for anything. You'd prefer to see a player from Club Med U get arrested, but any little bit helps for PSU I guess.

I understand what you're saying, but it still comes off wrong IMO. I guarantee Truff and Derwood aren't happy that an FSU LB (allegedly) raped somebody.
