I'd love to have Manny, but we just don't have the players to offer Boston in a trade.

 

It would take a very creative three-way trade to get it done. It could be possible to involve the Devil Rays with Lugo and Huff going to the Red Sox, prospects going to the Rays and Manny coming to the Cubs.

And my guess is Boston would hang up the phone as soon as you said Aramis wasn't available.

I'd consider trading A-Ram, Patterson, Hill or Williams, etc. for Manny and Lowell. Manny is an upgrade over A-Ram, is less of an injury risk and Lowell could fill in at 3B for a season or two.

They found Sosa worth 16+ million a year, I can't see them having a problem with 20 million if they feel the player is worth it.

I'm sure the Sox would have to eat some of the money. I'm all for Manny coming here, I have been for about 2 years now. But if it would cost us Aram....no thanks. I just think Manny would thrive at Wrigley. If we had him, it would be a fun, fun summer.
