*dons flame suit*

I would like Kotsay in our outfield. I think he'd be a great asset and a perfect #2 hitter.

Also, good to hear the Tejada thing might still be on? Although I think the Sox definitely have the advantage here....I guess I can hope. How about they can trade for Abreu if we can trade for Tejada? Sounds like a deal to me...

I agree that Kotsay would fit as an OF, but I don't want him in the number 2 slot...

Listen carefully to the wind coming in off the lake.....yes thats me screaming all the way from england. This is total crap, i really dont want to have to trade the farm for tejada just because the sox are after him. I think we would be far better chasing abreu or drew who are both better fits. Its truly been an awful offseason and things aren't looking to get any better.

In fact, I love Kotsay. His numbers are much better once you bat him 2nd or 3rd, and he really hits in the clutch. According to ESPN, he has a great arm, frequently gets assists, and plays terrific defense, perfect for RF.

He also bats better away from Oakland and during the day...I want Kotsay.

Wow the White Sox eh? If they get Tejada it's time for repeat of their WS championship. Amazing.

Of course they wouldn't repeat if they got Tejada. Because they probably actually would be the best team on paper in baseball. They can only win when they're not a great team apparently.

I lost faith in Hendry late 2004 when he could not acquire a closer when Hawkins was blowing saves left and right and since then he hasn't done enough to get us back to being a contender. What a farce. Hendry needs to go.

Garland and Dye for Abreu makes a ton of sense for the White Sox. A ton. McCarthy for Garland is no downgrade in the rotation, Abreu in RF is a huge upgrade. That lineup suddenly becomes a potential force.

Could they for Abreu w/out trading Dye? Build a package around Garland, stick Dye in LF. Use Anderson to trade for a SS.

Anderson-NYY

Uribe/Wang-TB

Lugo-CWS

Posednik-CF

Lugo-SS

Konerko-1B

Abreu-RF

Thome-DH

Dye-LF

Iguchi-2B

AJ-C

Crede-3b

(I have no idea how Guillen would set it, though). Get the speed at the top and the bangers in the middle.

I dont even remember Kotsay's numbers but I would take him over JJones and Encarnacion.

Kotsay has a NTC and would have to agree to be traded to the Cubs.

He might do that, but the NTC would probably still be in effect post-trade.

That would limit Hendry's flexibility when he wanted to bring Pie up.

True enough, but with Pierre scheduled to leave after this year, it would be a good problem to have.

Man, if the Sox are indeed after Tejada, I think if the Cubs really want him, Hendry is gonna overpay in prospects for him. If the Sox do get Tejada, I think it could be the last time Hendry gets to screw things up on the Northside. Get it done, Hendry. You'vse sucked so far this offseason, do something good.

Cubs and Sox head to head for Tejada, huh? This could be interesting...

I'd have to believe the Sox have the edge simply because Tejada wants to play for a winner and the Cubs are perceived as possibly the most disappointing team of the past 2 years.

Will Tejada have a say? I don't know his contract situation, does he have a NTC?

Whoever trades for him will probably want him to waive his right to demand a trade (or become a free agent if denied) after the first year. So, while he can't stop a trade, he can make it easier or harder to go to one team or another.

I'd give up a lot for him, but I'd insist on him waiving that right.

I agree with you. If we give up a whole lot for him, we better ensure hes ours for more than just one year.

I don't care if Hendry overpays if Tejada gets us to the playoffs.

Nor do I. It may be a good thing that the Sox get involved in this, simply because it may get Hendry to try even harder to get Tejada.

I could be wrong, but I believe Kotsay's NTC covered only the remainder of the 2006 season.

Possibly off topic: Does anyone know the reason for Kotsay's decline in both OBP and SLG last year? He took a significant step down from 2004. 2003 wasn't that outstanding either. Certainly not productive enough for a RFer.

Ok, do the Sox look at what the Cubs might want and just chase after those guys lately, or what? Tejada, Kotsay...

Why not? Then they can really shine a light on JH's issues...

He doesn't care he doesn't seem to take notice of whats going on in baseball or with the other team in this city. We are stuck in mediocrity. It isn't all his fault (teams asking for too much in trades and a poor FA class) but he has done nothing to help d lee or aramis. If i was these 2 i would be bolting to a team next year that shows some ambition. I would have more respect for hendry if he named pie the starter in RF , Hill the number 5 starter and gave greenberg a roster spot. At least then you commit to the young players and send a message to younger players in the org that if you are good enough you will get a chance. If Atlanta can do this why cant we?? Why has he not just named cedeno the starting ss and murton in lf to show dustbag the direction this org is going in?.

Exactly. I have a sick feeling that Williams is about to make a big move. He's going to trade Garland and get something sweet (Tejada, Abreu, Manny, who knows?)

BTW, Blum says the Cubs are going to make some big moves. Believe it or not, he expects the Cubs to add another BP arm. For what it's worth, this guy has "anointed the Cubs Champs for '06." We'll see about that...

Maybe he's just not that good.
