looking forward to this...

You're still optimistic...I like that! I saw the heading and was nervous that it might be a Jones signing.

My sarcasm didn't come over well. I was really trying to say "I can't wait for Levine to explain to the lowest common denomonater fan how this move means McCarthy or Garland are now free to be dealt for Tejada".

Hood doing his update: he should be more careful with his verbage. Makes it sound like the Miggy to the Sox deal is all but done.

That's because he a White Sox sniff.

Oh Crap! I thought you were kidding. Jay Hood said that as I was reading your post verbatum.

After I reread it it did come over...I just couldn't see that well through the tears.

Really? That's kind of cool...but in another way, it's most unwelcome news that I'm actually right.

Well, I guess except for the 'lowest common denomonator fan' part, of course - but all in all it was pretty damn close.

If the White Sox get Tejada, I'm gonna blame my actions on my neighbor's talking dog.

(Joking) Still, I'd be pretty mad.

Does the talking dog run the SABR department for the Cubs? :P

Mr. Levine says:

- The Vazquez deal is "another beautiful deal" by Williams b/c they have control over his contratct after two years (due to the fact that he demanded a trade).

- Sox are "very serious contenders" for Tejada, along with Cubs and Red Sox.

- Tejada needs to be dealt (if at all) within a week due to mkting concerns.

- The Cubs are in a good position with the young players they have to offer; the Sox and Cubs are going head-to-head on this one.

- Hard to say who has the advantage at this point. Sox have more versatile package (vets and prospects); Cubs have better "top prospects".

- Looks like the Sox are going for it again and are less worried about dealing away prospects who might help in the future.

- Hendry looking at Jones as a back up plan; unidentified team / player is Hendry's prime target: probably Oak. and Kotsay, or Anaheim and Erstad. "Ultimate" would be to get Floyd from the Mets.

- Cubs are worried that they are waiting too long. (good thought)

- Cubs are not (no chance) trading Wood, Z, or Prior.

Oh...My...God...

I feel like that guy on Airplane that lights himself on fire because he can't listen to Striker talk anymore. I think I'll go ahead and go do that.

Good summary, Ryno.

My thoughts can be summed up in one sentence: If Darin Erstad is a Cub, we will suck royally next year.

It's also nice to see the Cubs front office is waking up after sleepwalking through nearly 2 straight offseasons.

Williams is the man, he's in the driver's seat for Tejada. He has Garland and McCarthy to dangle in front of Baltimore; Hendry has Williams and Hill. Gee, which would you pick?

Garland >> Williams

McCarthy > Hill

Sox rule. I am very envious.

He won't trade Garland and McCarthy. That would leave them thin in the pitching department.

Apparently the Sox have said that they won't have McCarthy pitching out of the pen, so that means something has to give...
