FWIW I heard about Brown on the offish board. About ten people reported hearing about it on cold pizza.

EDIT: I guess ESPN1000 just said that Brown is still doubtful and Mcgowan and either TJ or MG are going to start.

So basically I have no idea what's going on.

On ESPN Radio yesterday (I believe Cowherd, when he was doing around the globe) a few of the guys were very critical of the Bears receivers. They were saying that even though Orton is not good, the WR never get any space, and leave him little to work with. They said they noticed it from the sidelines, but never saw it on TV, because obviously, they don't show everything. They said that Orton has thrown some good passes, but a lot of them look terrible due to the WR, and he has to throw away so many passes for the same reason. Oline is doing a great job, WRs are not.

Just thought I would throw that out there.

Am I the only one who would rather face Vick than their backup QB? Vick is almost a lock to force a few interceptions. I think his running game will also be greatly negated by Urlacher. It isn't often that Vick faces a linebacker with that speed. This will be a HUGE game for the Bears, but one they should win.

The Falcons definitely don't lose much offense with Schaub in the game. They become much more of a passing threat which only helps Dunn and Duckett. With Vick, you can pretty much bank on a short passing game, but his speed has everyone guessing all the time. Schaub will be a starter (and a really good one) for someone within the next 2-3 years.

I believe that the WRs are not getting as open as they would like but clearly Orton is missing wide open receivers as well. It's to the point where Orton doesn't throw the bomb anymore because he overthrows targets by 10 yards. I don't know if he's nervous but it seems he has no sense of touch on the ball when going deep.

But both Harris and Johnson are out. If Brown doesn't go, they're down to their 4th and 5th safties.

Hillenmeyer and Metcalf are also game-time decisions.

Harris would be a big loss...Johnson not so much. Hillenmeyer and MEtcalf also are eneded, but Brown makes that Defense work. He is alone the most critical, and if any of them could play on Sunday, I pray its Brown....

McGowen, as hard as he hits, could spell Harris for a game or two...and R. Brown as well for Metcalf.

I love Metcalf, he has turned into the guard many thought he could be when we drafted him.

Couple of broadcasting notes:

-For those without cable, the game will be simulcast on WCIU. WCIU will also have a Bears pregame show starting at 7:00.

-In case you didn't know, the Bears/Packers game is a national telecast on Fox. It's the only afternoon game that Sunday.

the Packers-Seahawks game on Week 17 was also moved up from a 3:15 start to a Noon start that day. It's rumored that the Bears-Viqueens game will be pushed back to a 3:15 time to accomodate a larger audience.

Cool. That one will be for the 2 seed and a 12-4 record!

Go Bears tonight. Hopefully Brown can go, we'll need him. What the hell am I going to do until 8:30?

It's Gameday. Any updates on Mike Brown from the Chicago area folks?

Steve Young just said the Bears should play both Orton and Grossman ala Spurrier at UF. Might not be a bad idea since the QB position is secondary to the running game on offense in Chicago.

It's looking more likely that he won't play, Hillenmeyer might be replaced by L. Joe at OLB.

Man, this is gonna be a tough game. Minnesota's gonna lose, but this game is for a 1st round bye. Gotta keep pace with the Giants.

I was hoping a Bears win with a Vikings loss would clinch, but Minnesota has done well in the bad division and there's a shot if the Bears lose to GB and Minn.

Still will have to be decided in GB.

I don't see Vick making it past the 3rd quarter.

If our defense was healthy I would say the Bears would win but the fact that we got dominated bad last week and key injuries to our safeties which is huge I hate to say it but with the running game ATL has I think they will win. Good thing Minnesota lost earlier.

Yeah, Brown will not play.

That sucks, but next week is bigger. The Bears should still be in good shape tonight. Our corners should hold their own against Atlanta's receivers. The guy who can hurt us is the TE. Briggs, or Joe will have to step up on Crumpler. The weather will be a factor, and while Dunn is a very good back, he doesn't seem to be the type that can run on the Bears. To run on the Bears you need to be able to run over the Bears, and I doubt that happens with Dunn.

The Bears will get back to their strengths and run the ball 30 times. The Offense/Defense/Special Teams manage to score 20 points tonight.

Bears 20

Atlanta 10

With the Vikings loss today the Bears can clinch the division with a win in either of the final 2 weeks (@ GB or @ Minny). Tonight is huge for the race for the 2 seed, but doesn't have much (if any) impact on the divisional race.

BEAR DOWN!

Is Hillenmeyer really out with a thumb injury? Couldn't he play LB without a thumb? Guys play with casts all the time. It'll be harder to get an INT, but everything else should be the same.

Won't help the tackling problems they had last week, though. Not sure how serious it is, but they did say Joe is going to give them some needed speed at LB.

And yeah, Brown is out. Angelo said that they should have two of their safeties back next week, if not all three.
