nothing new. No chance to land Huff. No players names exchanged in minimal talks for Tejada. No chance at Bradley. Jones is probably one of several different solutions Hendry is looking at to fill RF.

What the hell is the point in meeting with the O's then?

"Hey Baltimore, is Tejada available? Yes? Alright, welp see ya later."

"Okey dokey."

I get the feeling that Hendry is pulling a Kramer (the one where he wants to hear gossip that jerry has "in the vault"):

"Oh c'mon, please, please tell me!!!!"

I'll try this again... Anyone who listened:

... I didn't get to listen but did Bruce really say "no chance" in these scenarios?

Sorry, but I don't really see us ending up with Tejada. I say 2% chance IMO. That being said our OF options available are terrible. Aside from getting Pierre what upgrade have we done to put us over the top from last year? Start Cedeno over Nomar? When Nomar came back and was playing good our offense still stunk up the place. The OF options are similar to Burnitz so what exactly has our GM done to put us over the top offensively? Sorry, I don't see it. If Hendry really thinks Pierre is the guy to put us over the top he is mistaken. He is one piece to the puzzle, we need more.

This whole trading Todd Walker thing is pissing me off more by the day. At present, Walker is at worst the 4th-best hitter on the team, and you could make the argument that he's better than Barrett making him the best hitter we've got besides Lee and Ramirez. Why on God's green earth are we so desperate to get rid of him???

If I had to take a guess I bet you Baker doesn't like him and gave the word to his puppet GM that he has to go.

Someday someone will write a book and we'll find out why. Some team is going to get a very productive 2B for cheap.

could it be that bruce believes the Cubs want Neifi at 2nd to hold the place until Patterson is ready?

this would release Pierre as well, when E Patt arrives and becomes leadoff

seems like a possibility, but a gamble

why can't walker hold the position until Patterson is ready? If he is ever ready.

So did everyone else. What's the big deal?

It could be that or maybe something else that the Cubs know about that we don't. Steroids are another possibility....I'm not saying he did do them but how are we to know.

Given the Cubs moves the last year or so, I think incompetence is much more likely than steroids.

I'm not sure what the problem with Walker is either. Seems they want him out in the worst way. As long as it gets us either Manny or Abreu I'd be ok with it. Anything less than that would be a waste. OK, maybe Zito. LOL
