You could get more for Marquis than patterson, so I'd make the trade. I wouldn't want Marquis on the roster, either too much of a baby or too selfish, probably both.

And I'd generally rather stay far away from trading Patterson to the birds....I don't think Patterson will ever really find it...but Marquis sounds too close to Brogilo to me.

This has been a recurring question on Cards Talk and Bernie's Press Box. Yes, I would do it but I don't see the Cubs sending Patterson to the Cards. Ideally, they'd like to ship him to the AL but out of the division for sure.

The Cubs should hold on to Patterson. I know everyone in this board seems to hate the guy however, two years ago before he got injured he was on his way the the all-star game. Athletes have bad years and have trouble getting out of funks. This is a guy that has produced all his life and should be a valued player. If he is on the bench he would add many factors to the team including speed and agility. A good defensive replacement for who ever we are going to have in RF who prob. wont be able to catch the ball. And and insurance policy if the great Murton doesn't produce like everyone is sure he will. Let this guy alone and keep him on the team he is worth more then anything else we could get.

Marquis is a better hitter.

Marquis had a .326 OBP and .786 OPS last year at the plate. Corey had .254 OBP and a .602 OPS.

But I'm not as down on Corey as some of the Corey-bashers are. I think with an offseason to clear his head he could fully become a Jason Marquis caliber hitter.

I agree...don't give up on Patterson just yet. I don't want to trade him for nothing. Make sure it is going to make this club better and not just trade him for the sake of getting rid of him.

Like someone mentioned earlier, he is good to have for insurance purposes. For example we trade for Bradley (form your own opinion on him...in the millions of threads going on him) and he pulls the normal injured, suspended, etc. Or get Floyd, who also gets injured. Now at least you are not left with Mabry starting everyday...although he might be better then Patterson.

Long story short, if Patterson is traded, I hope it is for something that will help the ballclub.

from what i've read recently, it seems like the diamondbacks are the only team serious about getting cp. a suggested trade i read is cp for a similar problem guy with potential named Josh Kroeger. anyone know anything about him? he had 2 really good years in the minors in 03 & 04, (not so good in 2005), plays rf, hits left handed & will be 24 in 2006.

I don't think we should trade CPatt. He's been a valuable poster here, and he's the only other T.B. Bucs fan on the board besides me.
