  1. You do realize that the Dodgers played no one in September. Beating up on the Padres, Giants, D-Backs and Rockies isn't something that I call difficult. Any pitcher can look like Cy Young and Nolan Ryan combined against that competition. The only thing the Dodgers scare me about is Manny. With that said, it ain't guranteed that the Brew Crew are in, as they seem to be choking hard to Iowa.
  2. I would want the Iowa Cubs to lose to the Stros if that happened, so they would have to play a tie-breaker with the Mets and Brewers. Meaning, whoever plays us gets no days off.
  3. http://www.fishstripes.com/2008/9/12/612869/florida-marlins-2004-hurri ^there is an article roughly detailing the Marlins in 2004. IMO, the Marlins had it far worse than the 'stros, and their organization did not complain. They had one hurricane (Francis) force the team to play 30 games in about 23 days, then they had Ivan, which forced them to play 2 games in Chicago against the Expos. Yet, no complaining from them. Berkman is about the lowest form of a professional, he always complains unless he is pampered and everything goes his way. Houston's organization should look at the class the Marlins had in 2004.
  4. All Twins fans: "There through thick and thin" The Twins have fans? Everytime I see one of their games there is no one in the stands.
  5. The only rationale I have for Hendry signing jones is what happened with Corey. I think he felt that because he was rushed, he turned out to be a huge bust. So, I guess he was trying to bring Pie up very slowly so the same mistake with Corey won't repeat itself. I'm not trying to defend the move because three years for that piece of crap in left is absolutely terrible. I'm just trying to show the only logical reason for signing jones (althought it still doesn't make any sense...
  6. zambrano already had a day off with the offday last thursday, thus if he doesn't pitch tomorrow he will have another day off giving him 6 days between starts. I understand wanting to try to get the best matchups, but I think big Z needs to play tomorrow just so we can have are two major league starters pitching on a normal cycle.
  7. ARAM for MVP for beaming edmonds in the head
  8. I think the NL central this year will come down to the bullpen. No team in the division has an offense that can overcome any short comings of their bullpen. The most powerful lineup (St. Louis) doesn't have anyone to get on base, and will have an offense that resembled the '04 Cubs. The most balance (our Cubbies) has a lack of power/clutch hitting, which will get beaten when facing good pitching, but will take advantage of any pitching mistake (see yesterday's game). Houston has digressed far from last year. With age, injuries, etc catching up to the 'stros, I see them fading come June. Milwaukee/Cincy will fade like Tampa did last year after starting hot. Meaning the division will come down to St. Louis/Cubs. The Cubs remind me alot of the '03 Marlins team in terms of offense (good balance, but has a lack of power). When it is all said and done, the team that has the best pen will win this division. The Cards pen is atrocious, easily similar to the yanks from last year (terrible middle relief with a good closer). St. Louis will be demanding way too much from their starters (something familiar with us), which I believe will end up hurting the team down the stretch. With our superior pen, I see us having a much better shot at winning the division than St. Louis.
  9. You wont get anywhere without putting Pie's name in the discussion, especially not if your only letting him take 3 players. If they trade him they will want to get the base for a good young team in return, as I said previously a Package like Pie, Hill, Cedeno, and Dope would be a good start. And then I'd pay for all of Tejada's contract too. I honestly doubt it will cost us Pie to get Tejada. If we give them enough pitching prospects, plus Cedeno and another bat, he can be ours. Just look at the other deals that are going on right now, no one has really had to give up their top prospect for anyone, and seldom does a top prospect get shipped unless he is in the Yanks system.
  10. Yes, Nomar has a canon of an arm, but I don't think he has the ability to play RF. Maybe Nomar will prove me wrong next year, but I seriously doubt he plays more than 100 games next year.
  11. Could KPat get us a ham sandwich? In which case, we might actually get a steal.
  12. I don't understand the love for Nomar. We play in the NL, where there isn't a DH. We just can't have him play the field everyday with that groin of his. It's like a ticking time bomb, you just never know when it will fall apart.
  13. Hendry has hinted that he wanted Cedeno starting, but ugh, Its dusty man. Besides, When you might even have the SLIGHTEST chance of getting A guy like Tejada, you try. Exactly. I think Bill Simmons, the Boston Sportsguy, wrote something earlier during the Hanley Rameriez trade that you almost have to trade them when you have an oportunity to get a quality player in return. You just never know who and won't succeed. Tearing up the minors is not the same as playing in the bigs, just ask Jason Dubois.
  14. They said that or you said that? Neifi is a good glove. But no glove is worth $2.5m per year. I agree with your statement. Thats what Kennedy said on the program. I for one fear Perez is gonna be the starter at short. I doubt Perez starts at short, unless we somehow get a good RF. We still have wholes in our offense, and Cedeno can at least hit better than Perez, while having roughly the same glove. I believe Perez was signed as a reserve (albeit way overpriced), in case our team decides to collectively get injured again.
  15. I seriously doubt the Bosox get Tejada, since the O's are a team very reluctant on trading to their divisional powers because of Angelos' animosity against Boston and New York. Angelos isn't that stupid. Yes, the Nats are stealing into his fan base, but the Nats are still not that popular in the DC area. Most of their fan support comes from Virginia. I honestly believe the only teams who can afford Tejada and give Baltimore what they want are the Cubs and Mets. Hendry should be offering Baltimore what ever prospect he wants for Tejada, excluding Pie. I'm perfectly fine with giving up Cedeno, who may or may not pan out.
