This defense has started to believe their own hype again. They're doing the same thing that hurt them early on, when they sucked.

Again. I don't think that's the case at all. It's been a well called game by Pitt. They should have been off the field when that last TD happened. Thev've missed tackles, but I don't think it has anything to do with believing their hype.

They missed tackles against GB as well & they're not getting in their gaps . It's the same thing that happened earlier in the year.

Well that run up the middle was lovely when you're already down a timeout.

Especailly considering that the offense needs every down the can get.

Orton is terrible. He's getting tons of time and can't make a decision. Then he tries to throw a ball off of his back foot while going backwards with plenty of protection.

His recievers aren't really getting open downfield.

what does that have to do with his form? his passes are sailing for a reason. it's fixable though.

And he's not making decisions nearly fast enough. He gets happy feet when he's pushed back in the pocket even with protection and his mechanics are bad.

Turner is pretty limited on his play calling with Kyle,

The Bears are down by 10+ points, Pitt's weakness on defense is when the offense stretches the field, and the Bears can't stretch the field b/c of Orton whether it is b/c of the play call or Orton's inability is more than enough reasoning to bring in Grossman.

Agreed. I've been a big proponent of sticking with Orton, but in my mind it's time for Grossman after the half.

I think if you make a change, you make one early in the week so Rex can prepare.

Bad kick by Maynard, terrible half for the Bears.

If the defense doesn't give the offense good field position for a change early in the third quarter and Grossman isn't in there, this one is over.

I don't agree with bringing Rex in. This is the worst possible situation for him. Pitt isn't getting to the QB at all (outside of the CB blitz a few plays ago), but having only played 2 preseason games in the last 15 months...I don't want to bring in Rex in a situation where he is gonna be back to pass the majority of the rest of the game.

This isn't a do-or-die game. Let Orton finish it out and go with Rex next week after a full week of taking most of the 1st team snaps.

Doesn't matter, Rex got 25% of the snaps, which is very low, but he got some snaps. The Bears aren't going to win with Orton today, they need Rex to come in and spark the offense.

He needs some in-game PT before Orton is benched.

I think if you do it, you do it now to try and provide a spark for this team. I'd rather take a chance on the unknown than sticking w/futility.

Do you think that Orton is the reason they are losing? Do you think that if the defense plays better in the 2nd half that Orton can lead them back?

I would question tossing Rex in a game like this on the road. He's going to press, and make mistakes. I think if the defense can give the O one break, they can win this game. If the Steelers score on the 1st possension of the second half, though, then maybe you do change to Rex.

They've already done enough to lose this game and their offense isn't capable of winning it. Lovie has to do whatever he can do give his team a chance to win. If he goes back out there with the same QB, he simply isn't doing that.

The irony is that the only player playing better than they did last week is Orton, and he's the one we're talking about changing...

This isn't must win, but they have to go 2-2 over the next 4 weeks (with 1 having to be against Minnesota if they win more than the Bears.

No, Orton's not the reason they're losing. But 3 points in a half isn't going to win the game even if the Bears' D plays well.

No, Orton can't lead the team back/Turner won't open up the playbook.

I just want Grossman to get some snaps - the Bears aren't going to win the game anyways.

Which is why you don't pull him until you see what happens in the 3rd quarter.

If the Bears go down by 3 scores, put him in. If they stay close, keep Kyle in. A lot should be decided by the 1st possision of the half.

Moose is playing better too - he's actually caught some passes. :)
