See that's where the Grossman-Orton argument loses me. What determines whether we win a playoff game isn't gonna be the offense...it's gonna be the defense. If the defense is on, we'll win. If the defense is off, we'll lose.

It most definitely will be the offense. The best defense in the world is still vulnerable against top-notch offenses. Why? The defense must always react to what the offense is doing. The Bears may be able to beat Carolina or Tampa again, and they should compete with the Giants, but teams like the Falcons should give them fits, and I think Seattle would make them look silly. Even if they lucked into the Super Bowl, the Colts would absolutely destroy them (in a Super Bowl XX kind of score).

A 1 dimensional team has an extremely hard time making it anywhere. See the Chiefs over the past few years.

Well I guess we'll find out if you're right, because it doesn't look like Lovie is planning on a change this season if he's true to his words.

No, see the point is playoff football is different than regular season football. You can get away with winning just with defense in the regular season. But in the postseason you will need your QB to make a play. And that is where the argument for Rex comes from. We know Kyle can't make that play. We don't know if Rex can, but at least he has a chance.

Exactly.

Changing the topic a bit for a moment....is there a reason there's 3 Saturday games this week?

Yes, college football saturdays are over, but there will still be a hungry football audience ready to perk up the ratings.
