The "I Hate Jim Hendry" BandWGN is always open to accepting more members, especially as he continues to do more indefensible things like proclaiming our 3rd or 4th-best pitching prospect "untouchable".

Denver Post reported a few days back that the Rockies offered Bigbie for Welly. While not a significant move, bigbie is infinitely more valuable than waiving welly, which is what we will have to do. In 03 and 04 he put up 800+ OPS against righties, plus he can adequately fill in at all three OF positions. He'd be a definite plus as a backup outfielder and is only first year arbi eligible.

Do it, Jim. It'd be a small step towards me disbanding my new BandWGN.

Hendry is a total moran. Hill won't pitch for the Cubs because he's not good enough to pitch over Glendon Rusch (according to the Cubs). But Hill is "untouchable" nonetheless. Despite the team having three GAPING holes in the everyday lineup.

Is anyone still on the Jim Hendry bandwagon? Anyone at all??

At this point, I'm not on the Jim Hendry BandWGN still, but I'm not ready to jump on the hate Hendry BandWGN.

I'm just gonna keep hoping at this point. Mayube some praying too.

Wait, I've been bamboozled. According to your avatar, Zito is now a Cub. Can we still make Hill comparisons? :D

LOL.

Don't listen to the troll in my avatar he says whatever he wants. I bet by tomorrow he will be proclaiming Dunn or Abreu a Cub.

Now they're invading my sig

note- none of these are specific references to anything.

I don't like this :

Arizona, Atlanta and Tampa Bay have reportedly discussed a three-team deal sending Julio Lugo to the Braves, Johnny Estrada to the Diamondbacks and pitching from Arizona to Tampa Bay.We assume the Braves would also have to throw something else Tampa Bay's way. The Diamondbacks aren't going to meet Tampa Bay's demands for Lugo, not if they're only getting Estrada in return. Dec. 6 - 1:29 am et

Maybe the Cubs can swoop in and give them what they want without the complication of three teams.

Wow, I'm flattered and everything, but I've seen some pretty good sigs throughout my time here.

I mean in like a couple of days when no one cares about m4d anymore(many people probably already don't) this sig will be old.

But thanks I guess.

Anyone think Hendry just sees visions of Willis in his head- letting go of a valuable lefty. Probably not so, but if it was that would be crap since its two different situations. Just throwing that out...

Don't hold your breath. Most of the Cubs "prospects" are "untouchable", haven't you heard? Oh, but Hendry thinks he's going to get something of value for Fez and Welly, cool huh?

While lugo is and has been on my wish list, talks of marte or Estrada and prospects are a whole heck of a lot more than I would spend for a 1 year rental. Bradley and Wilkerson are much better options.

i think it goes w/o saying that i'm hill's biggest fan here. but to say he's untouchable is crazy...especially when you just forked over 5 million bucks to glendon rusch to be in front of hill on the depth chart.

and because i'm hill's biggest fan, i kinda want him traded. i'm just not sure that he'll ever get a chance here.

hill for wilkerson. do it.

Hendry should quit and be the GM of a small market team where holding onto prospects is essential

Plus it will be acceptable to sign over the hill, crap veterans. Hendry/Baker for DeJesus!!!!

I find it kind of ironic that Hendry gets blasted for saying not talking up Walker but gets blasted for saying Hill is untouchable. IMO he is making Hill the cream of the pitching crop and if he has to he will throw him in to seal the deal he will. If he says Hill is available teams will want him and then more but if he says he is unavailable and then adds him to the deal it may get that GM to make the deal.

That's whatI'm hoping as well. Hopefully, he just doesn't want every pissant GM trying to work a trade asking for Hill. If the Phillies asked for Hill in a deal for Abreu, hopefully Hnedry would relent.

I have a lot of respect for Gillick and I think he will get a decent trade for Abreu.....look at what he got for Thome. When he was in Toronto he helped build a wonderful farm system that helped the Jays win the World Series and with that in mind I think he could go after a future 1 or 2 guy like Hill plus the others the Cubs could offer.....perhaps Pie.

If the Cubs had a game tonight their OF would be Murton, Mabry and Patterson. Stew on that for a second.

That's not much to stew, as many teams have major holes (only 3 starters, no middle infield, openings in the outfield) right now, and the offseason isn't in progress yet. Had the season started today, you'd have seen alot more activity before now.

Mabry isn't on the roster so I doubt he would be playing in your imaginary game. Anyway, if the Cubs had a game tonight it wouldn't be the offseason. Stew on that.

I agree with Vance on the Hill issue. Hendry is building up his value by telling anyone that will listen that he is untouchable. He may very well want to keep him, but I would be very surprised if Hendry was unwilling to trade him to get the right player. I just don't think that Lugo, Huff or Pierre are that player.

I doubt many intelligent people put much stock in Hendry's public statements anymore because his words and actions are plainly out of synch at times. In light of the Rusch and Eyre signings I find it impossible to believe that Hill is not available for the right price. Hendry has also talked up Cedeno but is bending over backwards to keep Cedeno out of the everyday lineup, and Cedeno also continues to play SS in Venezuela, so I also believe he is available. Hendry ran a similar BS campaign last year with the "Dubois as Rookie of the Year" talk, then it was later exposed that Dubois was never intended to be more than a pine-rider with the Cubs. As a BS artist Hendry is at the crayons and fingerpaint level.

I'd package Mitre, Wellemeyer, Dope, Williams for 3 of those players.

I'd be pretty darn happy with that. I think then you'd see Patterson and/or Walker moved with a prospect for Vasquez.
