Between this and the lovefest the Score was giving Millar earlier today (their logic is that the Chicago teams need him and Damon because they were on the Red Sox in 2004 and were the chief "Idiots" and inspire ye olde clubhouse shemistry so therefore = World Series), I dread this washed up hump somehow making it onto the roster.

That is why I didn't like seeing him signed to a "harmless" minor league contract. First you got the media going all "idiots" on them, and then you run the risk of the team actually buying into that chemistry/experience/champion/player nonsense.

It was actually a little disconcerting since the Score segment did involve a reporter with the Cubs (I forget which one) doing most of the fawning over Millar because's "such a great guy" and "so much fun."

You know what else is fun? Winning. You know who won't help a baseball team do that? Kevin Millar.

Yeah, I would like Millar much better if he was good at baseball. Despite all of the hype, I don't think there is any possible way that Millar makes the team out of spring training. There just isn't any space for him on the 25 man roster.

On the signing of Millar to a minor-league deal: "He's a gamer. He likes to play and he loves playing. We're pleased to have him in camp, and we'll give him every opportunity here."

He likes to play and he loves playing.

mama said if you can't say something nice...

Ding ding ding. Don't read too much into this. Piniella isn't going to start off Spring Training with a 'this guy needs to be better at baseball' without giving him a chance to play. I take it as a positive that he isn't talking about how he'd love his power off the bench or something.

I love winning. It's like, you know, better than losing.

I like to play. Can I get a contract with the Cubs, too?
I thought you did have a contract with the Cubs a few years ago before getting suspended for PEDs. :D

You people on this site have an amazing memory. I haven't mentioned that in years.

You did mention it every 5 days for the years that Taylor was in the system. These things stick with a person.

You don't remember saying "go me" in the minor league game threads when he pitched?

Hi. Call me a "Kevin Fan". You cannot put a price tag on verteran leadership and that's what he brings to this table. Young Tracy will have his chance, but this team needs to win now and Kevin is our man.

What would Cubs'nClippers_1 say about Millar? :D

Yes it is. That's exactly what I was hinting, because Cubs'nClippers was also a joke account.
