  1. Hill has successfuly proved he can get out AAA hitters....and to date, has proved he can't get out MLB players. If Wood is really out again, and we don't go on a 15 game win streak when Lee gets back, I would love to move Rusch for a bag of dognuts and see this rotation the rest of the year. Zambrano Prior Marshall Guzman Hill Marmol Maddux Yes, I know its a 7 man rotation, but come on do we really think they'll all be healthy and make every start? Marshall has done basically nothing but perform well (minus one really bad start)...Let Hill and Guzman pitch out the year up here and see what they can do...of course that won' t happen and we'll pick up another 35 year old has been to "anchor" the back end of our rotation.
  2. Its a crime that Marshall takes a loss for that outing. I still think there should be a "team" loss stat that accrues to maybe the manager or GM anytime the pitcher gets a quality start and still gets saddled with the loss.
  3. I just had a friend call and tell me he left the team for Cincy to have his shoulder looked at. Any truth to it? if so...grand.
  4. we are good at ground outs. Can we win something for that?
  5. Mabry reached on an infield single? that had to be interesting.
  6. Zambrano, Marshall, Marmol, Maddux, Prior. Not exactly the home grown rotation we expected 3 years ago...but if it works.
  7. Jones has a bad back. Nevin can't hit righties. Grand.
  8. I just get back from lunch to see that Jones is sitting...and Nevin isn't playing either...is there a rule we can't ever start our best offensive team?
  9. You can't be obnoxius. I know a girl who is a huge Cubs fan and she has lived in Cardinals territory her entire life and she no problems. She wears Cubs gear a lot, but they don't give her hell. Where does she live? I get crap all the time when I wear my Cubs hat and/or shirts. I think it's funny though. I just laugh at them and try to take advantage of weekends like this if anyone says anything. She came from Quincy, IL, and is going to Missouri-Columbia in the fall. I grew up in/near Quincy...and I must say...they do grow them pretty well there.
  10. So we really just spend a draft pick on a guy who openly hates the Cubs and who very well might not even play baseball? Yeah...new guy seems to fit right in with our management philosophy.
  11. Went to Friday night and Sunday games. Friday night, upstairs in left field..couldn't see most of left field, very disapointed in the view...also, stairways up to the seats very narrow...hard to get two direction traffic. Sunday, 3rd baseline about 20 rows back. Very nice. I've also sat right behind home plate 15 rows back. Also very nice. Just really suprised thta they didn't make every seat in the house where you could see the whole field. I would think they could do that now a days. food sucks, as someone mentioned before...seriously, what the heck is a "brat burger". The new bar looks to be nice.
  12. You've posted here for a long time...but finally.... Welcome to our world.
  13. That was a shot...feels weird rooting for the Reds, I have grown to dislike them over the past couple seasons...Anything to see the Cards lose! Izzy is in trouble! It only feels a little dirty...anyone playing the cards is my 2nd favorite team....I don't wish bad things on anyone....but sometimes I make exceptions for the cards and their fans.
  14. GRIFFEY GOES YARD!!!!!
  15. Just walked a guy after giving up a double...Griffey now represents the winning run at the plate.
  16. If he got sore playing first..... Plus...we can't keep Hank White's bat out of the linup.

    Lee?

Len and Bob said the other day he was taking some grounders at first. No link though, sorry. Sore muscles are fine...and to be expected...if he can start playing w/in a week I'll be happy... on a related note...did Nevin sign a contract that says he can't play first when Walker plays second or is there some other legit reason that Dusty won't put the best offensive lineup on the field?
  18. moorecg

    Lee?

Any word on how he feels now that the cast is off? It sure would be nice to get him into the lineup to help take advantage of the birds not having Pujols.
  19. Was I the only one who didn't want to see him walked to get to Rolen last night? I just knew Rolen would kill us...and we had kept albert down all night...plus it walked the bases loaded which often throws a reliever's control off.
  20. I was at the game last nigt...well the first 11.5 innings anyway...considering who we had up, who we had left to pitch, who they had up...and the fact that we were paying a sitter $12 an hour my wife decided it was time for us to go...I am ashamed to say I agreed with her...it was a nice win...Rolen makes that play in the 9th 995 times out of 1000....but it mean nothing unless we win the next two games...Rusch seems to do alright against the Cards, so may maybe there is hope.
  21. see...this is all part of the plan you see...with them ahead of us we'll have the whole field where we can see them ya see...and that way we'll be in a much better position to keep track of everyone ya see...if we're in last place then when we win a game we'll gain on everyone ya see...it all makes sense.
  22. I just thought of the Womack issue...not that I think Tony is good by any means, but its just like us to make a move to ensure that our currently hottest hitter gets less playing time. (Again...I'm not saying Womack should be an everyday hitter on any team...just that he's been the best guy on the cubs for the last two days)
