  1. Restovich? What happened to Pagan? How's his hammy coming along?
  2. Shouldn't there be lineups by now?
  3. The basic flaw in this premise is that you assume by hiring a "painter" the Trib's goal was a well painted house. As a business, the Trib's goal is making a return on assets, here, their "painter" while using inferior, or overpriced "paint" has still managed to show a substantial return for their investment. From the business side of it, he's done great.
  4. I echo these statements....one thing I really can't believe is that it is only us that see the lineups he puts out every day over the past two years and thinks that he's just a bafoon for constucting them the way he does. I've never heard a comentator say.."man...why does Dusty keep putting Neifi in the 2 hole"...or "why don't Nevin, Walker, Barrett and Murton ever play on the same day....or "why does freddy bynum ever start"....surely we can' t be the only ones that think that's dumb.
  5. yeah, because it's just unrealistic to ask a guy to put together a non-last place team w/ a mere 95 mil. I can find that money Hendry got "caught" without... Perez Blanco Rusch Jones' 3rd year (although I'll give him credit, he's playing very well now) Won't last. He's a free-swinger, prone to the K and streaky. He'll slump again. Might not be this year, but trust me next season when we need him he'll be K'ing up a storm. Thing to beware of for the rest of '06: players who put up good numbers now that it doesn't matter anymore. Don't be sucked in Cubbie fans. Don't get me wrong...I think Jacque Jones would make a teriffic yankee about right now...he's playing well, they are very thin in the outfield...if we can get a prospect or two AND get rid of the contract...amen brother. do it.

  7. Although I liked him as a player, and a person....Sarge needs to be added to that list.
  8. Translation.....if bringing him back means less fannies in the seats, which would mean less money for the bottom line, they they won't. It is all about the benjamins for the Cubune, but the problems with this team run very, very deep, so just getting rid of Johnny B will be a start, but there is so much more to be done. He does need to go, but in no way is this team even close to competing for the NL Central division with a new manager to pilot this train wreck. BCB . Baker and the ENTIRE coaching staff needs to go...Speier may get to stay at 3rd, because he hasn't done much wrong...but anyone in the organization in anyway involved with promoting or determining the plate approach of our hitters or the development and approaches of our pitchers needs to go. That is all well and good, but this team needs more changes than just Baker. Getting rid of Baker may be part of the plan, but it isn't going to solve thie problem by itself
  9. What exactly did he say?
  10. I'm pretty sure that you can't serve a suspension while unable to play, even if you're not on the DL. Someone - correct me if I'm wrong, but I think if Barrett was too injured to actually play a game, they couldn't just drop the appeal and let him start serving the suspension. Well obviously we couldn't have said...Barrett's hurt...he'll start serving it...but I think we could have hid that fact....anyway....its not like it matters....I'd really like to see Bynum DFAed and have Soto get a call up...seeing young guys play is about the only thing interesting we'll have all year...and unfortunatly, we won' tget much of that either.
  11. I guess the real point behind this topic is...Is "player's manager" like a blind date having a "good personality"?
  12. I was just thinking...who was the last noted "Player's manager" to win the world series?
  13. They appealed it, hoping it would get reduced and that they could keep Barrett's bat in the lineup until DLee would return. I think it is an abomination that MLB allows things to be dragged out for so long, but it was a smart move on the Cubs part. All except the part about not just dropping the suspension and letting him start serving it when they knew he'd be out for a few days...thad was, as per usual, a dumb move.
  14. i'm sorry, but we aren't better than the royals. if the royals had the same payroll as the cubs they would have a better record than us. And they now have hope...they have a much better GM and a farm system with prospects.
  15. I agree...I see no reason Rusch ever starts again....and I'm thinking the same with Pierre...let Pie come up and play....
  16. Glad to see our guys took pitches and stretched the inning out and let prior rest a bit....
  17. If they had a good Idea he was going to be out for a couple days anyway...why in the sam hell didn't they say he was dropping his appeal? Why...because we're the Cubs.
  18. Do you think Dusty will mention that we won if you don't count the first two innings?
  19. Is it Carrie Muskat? Maybe her awful voice carries over to her crap writing. who knows, but it's like a dentist's drill to my ear Could be worse. .... Glendon could still be pitching. Be realistic...when was the last time Glendon pitched into the 9th? Little League? Aren't those 7 inning games? I'm still guessing he got taken yard a couple times by then...or he got hungry for the nachos from the snack shop. actually GR didn't used to be quite so chunky, 1997 rookie card: http://www.autograph-cards.com/Cards/BigCards/011410.jpg http://www.autograph-cards.com/Cards/BigCardsX/0110975.jpg Wow...if they ever start testing for beeriods he's in trouble...that transformation is almost as big as McGwire and Bonds.

Be realistic...when was the last time Glendon pitched into the 9th? September 6, 2005 vs St Louis -- 8.2 There you go and take the fun out of it! :D

Be realistic...when was the last time Glendon pitched into the 9th? As a starter or as a reliever? :-k Either....I'm not sure I remember him ever pitching in the 9th....

  24. Yeah....that's why people just love soccer.
  25. Are you talking about the baseball game or is there an eating contest? We've only got a chance to win one of those two matches...
