  1. Man...if we only hadn't wasted Neifi earlier we could use him to replace this lee guy here...where is Womack when you need him?
  2. Forget about Ronny....this is two games in a row that Neifi hasn't started...is something wrong...if he's hurt our entire season could be shot. :D
  3. I'm fairly sure the Cubs are the only team that could manage to get out of this situation without scoring any runs....
  4. Game Center is telling me the Cubs have 5 walks.... Did Dusty get fired before the game and I missed it?
  5. http://www.suntimes.com/output/cubs/cst-spt-cubnt29.html ugh. I don't want him back for $1 million. But hendry does have to justify giving up 2 very promising pitchers for him. Actually I can totally see Hendry saying something so fundamentally misquided such as: "We let nomar go last year, and made a mistake - see how much we regret it? We can't let the same thing happen to Slap Nasty." If you promise Neifi at 2.5 will be gone, i'll take Juan at 1...but that's it.
  6. I'd pay $50 to see him gone by July 31st. Are you KIDDING!? After that HOMER he hit for us!? You're right. He saved us dude.
  7. I'd pay $50 to see him gone by July 31st.
  8. Even if we win out, we can't guarantee a playoff appearance. http://riot.ieor.berkeley.edu/~baseball/national_league.html It hurts so much you have to laugh.
  9. I just realized....If we win out, we will finish 114-48. I think that stat, in and of itself is amazing. we could win our final 83 games straight and still not finish with the best record in MLB history.
  10. We won a game. At home.
  11. Don't worry, he'll be back on the bench tomorrow against another LHP. I expect him to be gone for a defensive replacement in the 2nd inning.
  12. Was it just me or was the entire room shaking when she got going? That scares me on several levels....
  13. This is what really pains me. 3 years ago I thought we had a shot at being really good for quite a while..now I don't see how we can even be above average for another 2 seasons...and by then, Lee will be getting older, Barrett may be gone...Murton and Cedeno give me hope, but The current establishment seems to be doing everything they can to screw up Murton...if he continues on his current path we've got 3 holes in the OF next year, a hole at 2nd, and holes in the 3-5 spots in our rotation. Grand.
  14. I have to agree with Roast here. This season pains me in several ways...first, I hate to see the Cubs lose, second... I bought MLB EI for the first time...great investment there...Third...We're still 2-3 weeks away from the ASB and our season has been over for MONTHS...I LOVE baseball and more than anything, I'm mad at Dusty for taking away any enjoyment for an entire year of watching this game (and this team) that I so dearly love.
  15. Previous high by an opposing pitcher was 121 (don't know who) for San Diego in a 1-0 victory over the CUBS on Fri 05 May 2006. Thanks for the info...its always appreciated...and really...predicting the Cubs wouldn't score wasn't really that big of a deal...now if someone could predict when they WILL Score...now that would be amazing.
  16. That was me... How was I supposed to know we'd make a pitcher throw 126 pitches...Fred...has that happened yet this year?
  17. I just stopped in...everything as expected...but really...who has the book...there has to be a rule in dustyball, kind of like obp in moneyball, that says you can never have your best offensive team on the field... Why on earth to you sit Walker now that we've finally got Lee back? It makes no sense.
  18. We're over 50 walks behind the next worse team...wow. That's about all I can say. That's almost another full base runner a game we would have had...and that's not getting us up to average...that's getting us up to second to last.
  19. If I remember correctly...last time we faced Capuano, and the Brewers we started one of those 6 game streaks in which we scored a total of 3 runs....I think Capuano pitched a complete game shutout....just loving Cubs baseball.
  20. Me too. Always nice when the Cardinals lose. I may hate the Sox, but I hate the Cardinals above all, and I know they're the real enemy. I agree...although my feelings towards the Sox are more of an ambivilence...Hate is a strong word...I save that for the birds.
  21. The answer is to get the rebuilding program started early. It's kind of like having a pitcher stop pitching when you know he's going under the knife soon. If you know a guy is gone at the end of the season, why keep him until the end of the season. Moves made today and the rest of the season, including managerial decisions about playing time and pitcher usage, will affect next season. So why keep a guy around to make those decisions when you don't plan on having him take a stake in next season? It's similar to the Bears keeping Mike Hatley on for the 2001 draft even though everybody knew he wasn't going to stay. Sure enough he was gone after the draft. It's not a question of whether a guy will give his best effort, it's just a matter of no good coming from a lame duck situation. Management types with no stake in the future of the organization should not be allowed to make management decisions. Also, and maybe more importantly, it would keep this crew away from Murton, Cedeno, Pie and any other young guys who come up this year to hopefully slow down the damage they are doing there.
  22. Did you know they have the worst ERA in the Major Leauges for the month of June...and that's before the White Sox Series...
  23. Is there seriously a community big enough, and willing to devote a large enough portion of their time to just bashing the yankees to make this site necessary? What would be considered trolling? Posts like "go yanks" Would the transactions forum be filled with posts about "i think cashman should trade A-Rod for Macias"? I'm always confused about this sort of thing.
