  1. The most disturbing thing about this post is that Vance is quickly approaching 25 THOUSAND posts. I think one might rightly question if he might not spend just a little bit tooo much time on NSBB :D
  2. I'd stay away from Sheffield now, then and in the future. Probably...but Putting him in right and then signing Soriano and sticking him in center would sure put an end to our offensive questions... Soriano Murton Lee Sheffield Ramirez Barrett Theriot Isturiz Pitcher. That line up would be pretty solid, and we'd still have $$ to sign a pitcher or two. I wouldn't dismiss the possiblity...especially if its only a one year, or one and a one year extension deal...that would give Pie time to get ready and then you could put Soriano in Right....
  3. Would Schmidt or Zito and Suppan Do the trick? Zambrano Schmidt/Zito Hill Suppan Prior/Guzman/Marshall/Miller/Wood
  4. I think at this point, we have to consider the real possibility that Theriot will be bench/utility. I think he might need another year before he's ready to start everyday. I won't argue that, I think he may need more seasoning, but outside of signing Loretta for 2 years, I liked the option of giving him the job.
  5. Here is a lineup I think might be realistic...I'm sure there are others, are they enough to win, I'd like to see some other realistic lineups and not: ARod, Lee, Dunn...ect. Here is what I came up with, I'll admit Theriot leading off is a question mark.. Theriot 2b Soriano cf Lee 1b Ramirez 3b Barrett c Murton lf Jones rf Izturis ss Pitcher If Theriot can get on base, does this team score enough to win? If healthy I think its close. Thoughts, and what are the realistic options?
  6. I don't know about coaches...I think the real question is: Is it too much to ask to want the best pitchers and the best hitters?
  7. Don't know if anyone heard this or not...but on Mike and Mike in the morning on ESPN Radio today, Jason Stark was on and said from what he's heard, Sweet Lou will be the next Cubs Manager. Take it for what its worth...if he's supportive of working the count and getting on base, I'm gonna call it an improvement.
  8. Are we ever going to hire a manager?
  9. Quoted for Truth. I've been QFT'd!! Thank you!! Don't cry. Just be glad I'm not QFT'ing you regarding a message about how Hendry should not have signed Baker to a 3 year extension. :D
  10. We paid almost 5 mill per win this year? Wow. Just Wow. 5 mil per MARGINAL win. not per win. Not that it's not still terrible. Oh...well that does make more sense...still...we were bad. very bad.
  11. We paid almost 5 mill per win this year? Wow. Just Wow.
  12. Quoted for Truth.
  13. While there may be an argument for him...after watching that STL series I'm not sure I like him. While its a very small sample size his in game decision making seems questionable. Why pitch to the Dominican God of hitting with a base open? Why start an entire lineup of lefties when a good portion of your best hitters are righty? Why send Cameron against the hardest tandem in the league to steal on? There were others...these just pop in my head to begin with.
  14. This is the most fun I've had watching baseball all year long. I'm going to Atlanta Tomorrow night just to cheer on Houston!
  15. i moved away at the wrong time. being there in 0ct 2003 - not fun. ](*,) Tell me about it...I've been here since 99.
  16. I hesitate to say....I'm enjoying this down here in STL.
  17. So what I'm getting from this season is that...aside from Offense, Defense, Starting Pitching, Relief Pitching, Bench, Manager and General Manager....we're all set to make a run for it all next year.
  18. My last name is Moore...where do I get a jersey?
  19. My fantasy team (with Lee and Theriot on it) will suffer as well today. I want to know how on earth Theriot isn't playing every single inning from here till the end of the year to see if he can do it at this level. He's looked nice so far, sure would be good to see him get regular time.
  20. Glad to see we've put our "A" lineup out there today.
  21. How about ANYTHING for Mabry. :D
  22. Even though the Cubs are out of it I would LOVE to see them come into town this weekend and dash the Cards playoff hopes. I'd love to have the Cubs in it, but maybe second best is seeing the cards stumble down the stretch and pick up every crappy DFA player in sight. Is anyone else scoreboard watching like I am hoping the Reds, Phils, and Padres win everynight just so the birds don't make it?
  23. What's even better...in Hendry world math...if you subtract the 2.5 million we don't have to pay for Neifi next year from Isturis' contract we're getting him for like 1.5 mill next year...which is completely reasonable.
