  1. these guys are taking pitches...where are the real cubs?
  2. please tell me that is sarcastic that you think he would ruin our chemistry... Please tell me that you don't need me to tell you I was being sarcastic! Yes. I was.
  3. Although i'm not sure I'd want him to return and risk breaking up the great chemistry we've got going right now. :D Are there any realistic return dates on Lee?
  4. this was my thought as well...10 Mill is too much for him, but I'm not sure they'll find a better guy for 7 mill, and considering they've also got to fill another OF spot and also considering the lack of solid talent for the OF in the free agent market, it seems like he could get picked up despite not being worth the 10....I don't see him signing for less than 7 somewhere else.
  5. Hijacking my own thread...in a similar vein, (and ignoring for a second that Dusty would never do anything smart) why wouldnt' Matt Murton be a solid option in the 2 hole? He's hitting .280+ with a .350+ obp, he had a bad June but other than that his numbers (except for power) have been very good, if you left him in LF and signed a Soriano and let him play 2nd you'd have an interesting combination.
  6. I'd agree with that...but all things considered, he's put up fairly solid numbers over the last 2 months...as you noted, that doesn't make up for the rest of his career, but the rest of his career is a .300 hitter and a .350+ obp...and he's had seasons much better than that. He started of HORRIBLE this year, but he's in the "prime" (age wise) of his career...if he could consistently put up a .350-.375 obp for the rest of the year I could be talked into resigning him. Over his career he's had more years with an OBP over .350 than he has had under...its not outstanding, but considering the alterntatives this off season it's not god awful.
  7. I'm not sold...but his last 2+ months are worthy of note. Just wondering how much more solid production before people become comfortable with bringing him back? Does it ever happen?
  8. 66 pitches total first 2 innings. 13 pitches total next 2 innings? That's a bit of a turn around...did the Cubs start batting for Arizona?
  9. 66 pitches through 2. At this rate he'll be Kerry Wood in no time.
  10. After two weeks ago who would have thought that we would have much rather had the Reds GM running the show.
  11. I'm already casting my lot with the Twins. At least they know how to develop their talent. Make it the Tigers for me.
  12. If we could get Kemp it would be a great deal...(assuming we clean house with the coaching staff and don't mess the kid up)
  13. They've really improved their Pen in the last month...I would LOVE to see them overtake the birds.
  14. ESPN has it as a done deal...nice move for the Tigers.
  15. ESPN is saying he just got traded to Texas for Kevin Mench and Fransisco Cordero....interesting.
  16. How about Michael Wilson or Wladimir Balentine from their AA team?
  17. nope. justa case of false association :D Figured as much...man that kid was good...Wonder what ever happend to him? :D
  18. As all hope is lost I haven't really followed much lately...saw on ESPN that some guy named Prior threw 5 2/3 without giving up a hit? I remember 3-4 years back there was this kid named Prior who looked like he could be good...was this the same guy?
  19. I like their system, but that is one ugly crop of free agent third basemen next year.
  20. True, but knowing KC, I'd have to imagine that the cash considerations were a pretty good sum of money...they aren't spending a ton for a crappy pitcher.
  21. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2529486 Is Hendry even trying? I don't want Perez, but two minor league arms for a 4.5 ERA guy...surely we can do something to improve for the future.
  22. http://www.nypost.com/sports/espn_fires_reynolds_sports_andrew_marchand.htm link
  23. XM is reporting this. I could actually stand him on BBTN....anyone have any info on this?
  24. Yeah, who would favor two statistically better seasons from a second baseman over a corner outfielder at a fifth of the price? Those folks are really out there. I don't want to get into the argument...just thought it should be noted that "it isn't value ball, its baseball" sounds a heck of a lot like "its not called walking, its called hitting"...
  25. I agree with calling a 1b up. Hoffpauir could be called up and if Dusty needs his vet he can still play Mabry since he's not going anywhere. A large part of me thinks Dusty and Hendry will see the transaction report today showing KC traded MacDougal and wonder with amazement what KC will do without a closer for the rest of the year.
