  1. I thought that as well, Bob didn't seem to agree. Its all speculation really because Williams is in Arizonia. Plus, he like Pole for pitching coach as well, he was maddux coach in atlanta wasn't he? Regardless, if Billy wanted the job, they'd have to be stupid to not give it to him. If Maddux decides to retire, I want him in the dugout next season too. I would love to see Maddux as PC and Billy as HC. I really like this idea...getting former Cubs (not named Sarge) for the bench makes me smile....BTW...I like Sarge, just not what he's done as a coach. I would rather get good coaches than worry about whether they have ties to the Cubs. Ditto. With Maddux and Williams, it's more coincidental than anything. I think they would be terrific for those positions, regardless of the team they played for. I didn't mean to suggest that we get them just because they were Cubs, but I like the idea of both of those guys and maybe it would help install a sense of respect for the team...just thoughts...I also wouldn't mind Girardi coming back to manage...but that's just me.

  3. I live here...packing isn't a problem...its putting up with friends/aquaintances that I'll see the rest of the week....right now I'm not realistically hoping to win the series....just to avoid humiliation.
  4. I'm going to two of the 3 games down here this weekend...my question is...Should I? I've never been more discouraged and unexcited about the Cubs coming to town...I guess if we win today and sweep the series this weekend we "might" get within 10 games or so...I guess that's something to shoot for...of course that would require us to win 6 games in a row, including one in which Glendon Rusch pitches to Albert Pujols...I never thought I'd an attempted bunt with 2 outs in the 9th so I guess anything can happen.... What are everyone's thoughts for the weekend? Anyone else going?

    Soto

Maybe this should be in the minors discussions, but since he's coming up to take Barrett's spot when he serves the suspension I thought I'd post it here. What is his reputation defensively? I like Barrett as much as the next guy, but I'm also interested in seeing what some of the young guys can do...If he performs well I'd like to see Soto up as the #2 catcher next year, and take over the main job the year after that...not sure if that's realistic but I think its time to start considering it....at the very least he can replace Blanco's .051 average for far less than the 1.5 mil we're paying Hank...Seriously, wow...I just realized we're paying Blanco 1.5 million, add that to the overpayment of Neifi, and Rusch and we'd have enough $ for a very good bench guy just from what they are being overpaid... Anyway, I'm hijacking my own post....What is the rap on Soto's defense?
  6. New and exciting ways to lose every single day!
  7. I was just looking at the stats...how sad is it that Bynum is BY FAR our biggest offensive threat off the bench.
  8. Just think....this way it will be over within 15 min and we can go do something productive.
  9. I don't understand this lineup. Murton doesn't have much slugging...Hairston and Pierre have woeful OBP...it just doesn't add up. They are fast...don't need Murton clogging up the path back to the dugout...Pierre can get there much more quickly.
  10. I love that he freakin tried to lay down a bunt to start the 9th after his glovework....almost like he's daring fans to hate him more than they already do.
  11. I'm not saying give them away...but if we can make the team better I have no problems in doing it...nobody is off limits in that respect.
  12. lets get rid of the guy who threw 6+ innings of no hit ball today That 6+ innings obviously helped win the game. Seriously though, I like Z but right now this team is soooooo bad if we could make a deal to improve it I don't care who is involved. He'd be one of the last ones I'd want to see go, but I don't think anyone is untouchable. i dont see how getting rid of the best hitter in the league last year and a young pitcher who has fantastic stuff makes you better. If it were for Cabrerra and Willis or someone like that, it could.
  13. Not everything. Lee, Zambrano, Marshall(unless we can get Tejeda or Abreu in a deal invloving him) Barrett, Ramirez, Cedeno, Murton, Howry, Eyre, Dempster, Speier(Only real coach on this team), Prior(same with Marshall) I disagree. Maybe Lee and Zambrano can stay, I like them, but honestly, for the right deal, I'd let them go too...it sure as heck ain't working now. lets trade Lee for, Beckett, Ortiz and Manny Ramariez, throw in poppleborn also thank god you arent the GM Cause I could possibly produce worse results than the current one?

  16. fixed
  17. Who are you kidding? Neifi couldn't make the Royals or Pirates.
  18. Strange you said blown up...I envison the replay of the B-word ball being blown up outside Harry's....That about sums up what needs to be done with this team...I'm becoming more and more convinced that like a going out of business sale...Everything MUST GO...at this point, no one is untouchable, but we shouldn't make anymoves until Johnny B(stands for "bad manager") Baker is gone.
  19. over the last 30 games or so we've seen futility the likes of which I can't remember...(although I've only been a fan for 30 years)...We have had the same problem with hitting/obp for at least 4 years now, and the guy who "lost his job" over it is in the same uniform sitting on the same bench, but now he's just a "coach" as opposed to the "hitting coach" I could care less how much players "love playing for Dusty" well HELL YEAH they do...Rusch, Bynum, Blanco, Perez and Womack couldn't play for anyone else...of course they love playing for Dusty...I agree with whoever typed it above...I'm done spending money on them...no more hats/shirts/tickets/subscriptions nothing until some changes are made...they may not give a damn but that doesn't mean I don't.
  20. Which is a 2 year extension and a permanent position as the bain of our existences?
  21. Dusty just said "we gave away runs...a run scored on a walk..." HMMM, maybe we should think about a taking a walk sometime. Why doesn't our Staff EVER call players out? As soon as Neifi lazy arsed that play and made two errors he should have been pulled in favor of one of the other 7 piss poor second basemen we have.
  22. It has officially reached the commical stage. Seriously, I knew we were losing that game as soon as the first guy got on in the 9th...at least Neifi made it more commical than I expected...2 errors while CATCHING A CUT OFF THROW.... Neifi, Rusch, Bynum, Womack, Blanco....At least 20% of our team would not be picked up by another team if given their unconditional release.
  23. No, but he does have 4 at bats!!! Wow...4 at bats over 2+ weeks, I mean, what more shot could Dusty have given him. Good Riddance to the unproductive scrub.
  24. I don't know how many games, I have watched where I have heard the announcers say "starting tonight (insert player) who was just called up from triple-A this morning". Seems like anytime a guy is called up they start that night. Well unless that player plays for a Dusty Baker managed ball club. Admittedly, I haven't watched this trainwreck as closely as normal over the past few weeks...but did Theriot EVER get a start?
  25. I think I already volunteered to give up the entire Peoria roster for him. At this point I'd volunteer to give up our entire active Chicago team for him.
