  1. 3rd. He just hasn't looked right at all. Someone mentioned it before, I think, but this whole triceps thing looks a lot like Woody in Los Angeles a few years back. He's 3-0 with an 0.96 ERA, an 0.64 WHIP, 24Ks in 28 innings and his BAA is .164 Yeah, I have no idea what in the hell I was looking at, but it wasn't his line. Summer can't come soon enough so I can stop pretending I'm working on kids' goals and just watch games.

  3. Yeah, that's the only thing that sucks about Pie in the lineup. Also, very minor but is there any reason for Derosa to be ahead of Soto at this point? If DeRo is not going to hit #2, he should be 7. Too bad Soto hasn't shown he's good enough to provide protection for Ramirez or the Cubs could move Fukudome to 2nd. Soriano Fukudome Lee Ramirez Soto Derosa Pie Theriot Do it now, Lou! I wholeheartedly agree with this lineup.
  4. And a new report says that Bennett has an offer from IU, and has until noon Sunday to make a decision.
  5. Interesting reports on the Tony Bennett front. Looks like some sort of statement from Wazzu tonight. link
  6. This would make me happy. If we're not getting a "name" coach (and I'm not sure who would want the job), Miller would be my #1 choice.
  7. Gus Johnson for President. I'm ordering my bumper sticker tomorrow: Johnson/Elmore '08
  8. And 10 for his last 60. Ouch.
  9. This Indiana team, minus D.J. White, ranks right up there with the 2006 Chicago Cubs as one of my least favorite teams ever. I'm so ready to move on.
  10. I can see him putting a BM into a blender and stuffing it into a syringe. BM means something totally different to me than it does to you. Can we name swordsman poster of the year, already? http://www.lazydork.com/movies/swingers.jpg You're so money and don't even know it.
  11. isnt this the arguement against a "choke artist"? and in Cuse's defense, he has prefaced his statements as "opinions" Mods, we REALLY need to weeding these threads. they allll are getting seriously off-topic. they are becoming the war of stat-men vs cuse and his crew. seriously, comon. This is so annoying. If you don't want to get involved in a debate, stay out of it or talk about something else. Backseat modding is about the lamest thing you can do. This, however, is extremely insightful:
  12. Good question. I haven't heard his name much. They could trade him or use him as a fourth outfielder. I'll ask as I get set to go to Nashville. while you're here, go have breakfast at Noshville on 21st ave....you'll thank me later. also, do you golf? hah, cause if you do, i got the hookup for you in mt. juliet (about 20 min. from opryland resort/opry mills) p.s. yes, i'm shameless...but i'd love to know the scoop and what better place to talk it out than at the golf course. Well, while we're making a to do list: Please kick Jim Hendry in the nuts for us. This Kaz Matsui stuff is just too much.
  13. Just back from GABP- great atmosphere. The noise was amazing every time the Padres scored and the out of town scoreboard was updated. Too bad they turned it off 2 minutes after game. Cheers! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v621/afrantz/MyPicture.jpg
  14. Chipper Jones. It's been a while since his MVP '99 season, but he's been very good again for 3 years since a mediocre (and injury plagued) 2004. He's been so consistently good for so long that it kind of makes you forget about him, or maybe just take his #s for granted.
  15. what? +1. Eh? Case in point, it takes more than muscles to hit Homeruns. how long was Barry allegedly on the drug? We don't know Did Barry use anything other than "the Clear" or "the Cream" for any legitamite period of time? We don't know. So just stop accusing Bonds of everything that you can't prove damnit. Nickolai???
  16. Joel Sherman has this tidbit in today's column. I will be nine kinds of pissed if the reason Pie came out of Thursday's game was for Gerald F. Laird and relief pitching, even if it is Gagne. Seriously, Pie?
  17. Just a thought, but would adding Grienke make dealing Marshall a bit less painful? It's probably too forward thinking for this organization, but if Griffey could be had for a deal with Marshall as the centerpiece- maybe, just maybe...
  18. ... after the return of Carpenter and the acquisition of Buehrle.
  19. Glenallen Hill is one of the nicest guys in baseball, but I'm pretty sure he could rip your arm off and beat you to death with it if he wanted to.
  20. More like, The Cubs are playing themselves out of this season, a potential response is to see what they could get for Lee. So it's just purely coincidence that this thread started today? No, but today is a good indicator of where this team is. Do you really believe that this team, as constructed, has any chance of winning a division- even one as bad as the NL central? Even if by some miracle they were to win a division, is this team really a contender in the playoffs? No. Is this team a player or two away? I don't think so. In this case it is perfectly reasonable to reset the focus on two years from now, and re-tooling for that time frame is not an unreasonable suggestion.
  21. I believe it was said before, but I would imagine that the Angels would offer up a king's ransom for Lee. Kotchman and Hillenbrand aren't exactly setting the world on fire. Where would you start the bidding???
  22. If you're going to do it, blow it up completely. Off the cuff: Z, Aramis, young arm for Arod & Phil Hughes- The timing might actually be perfect with the Yanks playing the Sox this weekend. They could realistically end this weekend more than 15 games behind the Sox in the East, and are currently 7 games out of the Wildcard. DLee for Santana, Wood Barrett and cash to Tampa for Baldelli/ Dukes Dempster, Jones, Eyre, etc for whatever you can get.
  23. Pretty good read, if not so depressing.
  24. Benitez is garbage. I hope Hendry is smarter than that. we are talking about Jim Hendry here. It seems a near certainty that he'll be a Cub within the week. Maybe we can get another bad corner outfielder in the deal too.
