    Terrible trade. Why would we trade two quality workhorses like Jackson and Buhl for some unproven kid and a strikeout artist like Phillips? Typical Cubs... I hope the Cubs don't go after Mays for center. He's old and one of Leo's boys and will get way too much playing time.

    Saw what? Anywho....what does everyone think about that Jenkins trade? I think the guy has some potental. I think the Cubs will be major players in 68!

    They can trade Joe B at the trade deadline to a team that needs bullpen help and get even more young guys. Doubtful. Joe's not going to bring you back anybody of quality. And signing guys with the hope of trading them later makes no sense to me. I suppose we'll see.

    When you compare Puckett and Belle you have to think about defense too. I wonder if the writers are going to be swayed by the steroid/cork allegations that Belle had swirling around him.

    We know Rusch sucks, makes no sense to keep trotting out the guy when somebody can be better. I don't think Rusch sucks. Also, Hendry promised him a chance to start so IMO it's going to happen so having Hill sitting around in the pen pitching every 10 days just doesn't make sense to me.

    Would he be interested in pitching for the Cubs? Why waste money on a Weaver type when you could get a Clemens for 1 year at 12 -15? Unless his magic beans are not legal anymore I think it would worth a try.

    I remember there were rumblings Manny would go there but nothing definitive. I don't know if there would be a log jam but however they could add Burnitz to help off set salaries. Burnitz can't be traded until June 15th since he was a free agent. I think Baltimore would be making out ok in this deal.

Also, it's possible that the Red Sox might be tempted to move Tejada to the Cubs for a package that Baltimore refused. Here's the follow up: I thought Manny already said he was ok with going to Baltimore? Also, if this move did happen would it cause a logjam in the OF for the O's?

    I'd like to see him start at AAA and see if he pitches well and it gives the Cubs a chance to see if Wood is coming back and if Rusch can handle being a 5. I'd love to see him pitch without the Baker effect hanging over his head.

    Kent >> Walker I agree, but my point given the way Hendry veiws Walker I doubt he would be very interested in Kent since they are pretty similar players. I think Kent's offensive numbers make him more attractive than Walker even though both as you say are poor defensive players.

    I thought the LA GM didn't want to deal with Hendry? IMO he would ask for more from the Cubs then he would another team if this is the case.

    I see Lee with 35 HR's 290 average and 104 RBI's. 91 RBI's if Perez is in the 2 slot.

    No. The Cubs had to offer arbitration to Burnitz and since they didn't they give up the right to a draft pick.

    I think it may depend on how bad Tampa and Baltimore plus Boston if they don't plug some holes and since they play them 40 times each. I also think the Yanks better upgrade their starting pitching a little more to be able to dominate this division. If Holly or Burnett are on the Yanks have to be able to keep Toronto from scoring.

    They wouldn't be getting a pitcher worthwhile of being in the discussion. Bederd wouldn't be a bad replacement. He would be for Prior. He's no more reliable than Williams for Hill. He's the oldest guy in the discussion and is no more accomplished than the others. You still have to factor him in there though as part of a possible package.
