  1. Not much. He doesn't have much velocity, from what I've heard. Everything says he's extremely raw. It's all about the tools. He's going to be quite a project for the developmental people. I should add, yes, he probably could be really good. It'll just take a ton of work, and luck. If 99 isn't good velocity, then we agree. He can throw 99 right now? A real 99 would be a very good thing.
  2. Can this kid really be good? What does he have other than good size that grades him so high?
  3. Seriously, do you really think that? The guy barely plays anymore. I want OBP too, but not at the cost of looking like an organization that will stoop to any levels. Did McGwire equal murderer's row for the Cards in his last season? That's what Barry is now. He's McGwire, juicing his last batch to eek out a few more ABs. Besides, I think Murt breaks out this season. Barry would take ABs away from Murt for absolute certain. Bonds had 15 fewer PA than Murton last year. So it doesn't make much sense to say he "barely plays anymore". He had an OPS+ of 156 last year, while Big Mac had a 106 in his last year. So it doesn't make much sense to say that's what Barry is now. The problem is when did Barry get to use his bug juice and if he's caught using it again he's out for 25 games. I think this is what the Giants and many other teams will now be thinking.
  4. Unless I write sentences 1000 times, I may never spell his name correctly. Samardzija. Samardzija. Samardzija. You might be right, you just tried 3 times and didn't get it right once :D That's funny! I with ya CiNY! Just say that wide receiver guy from Notre Dame like I do.
  5. I've read Houses book, watched his video and had friends go to his clinic in SD. He knows his stuff but I don't like his usage of "supplements" to help pitchers in their recovery time.
  6. I think it's nice to see Sandberg put some time in managing and now we can see how he communicates with players which has been one of his supposed faults.
  7. Because of the possible bad back or past over usage?
  8. Is it possible that Hendry would trade Jones for just about anything just to put Pie in CF? If you look at the OF slots it has: Soriano Murton Jones Ward Pagan I don't see any room for Pie until Jones is moved. I really think they like Pagan so he is going to be the 5th OF IMO.
  9. I think this is a sound move by Wilson and IMO he's hoping to win the everyday job and not to be part of a platoon.
  10. And if Cesar Izturis is the #2 hitter? Then I'll look forward to a lot of quick 1st innings.
  11. I'm hoping that he doesn't want to play with a freshman QB and take a chance on getting killed going up the middle.
  12. I never even saw this thread until now! I only coached against the kid without much success I might add until his coach decided to run him into the ground by having him throw too much. Thanks for the article! We do have a lot of talent around here and when some of the kids get a chance they take advantage of it.
  13. "NO OFFENSE"??? Did you know we have a quarterback who has the most passing yards in the entire NFL. Had 11 games this year with a 90+ passer rating. Has only thrown one interception in his last 7 games. We have the number one passing offense in the NFL, yet without our RB's we have "no offense?" the offense begins and ends with Bush and Mccallister, if they werent there defenses would sit on the pass You could say that about damn near any team that has a decent running back. "No Offense"...my aching ass. they wouldnt have made the playoffs without them Now take away Urlacker (sp) and another key Bear and you could say the same thing. Mike Brown, Tommie Harris I don't consider those guys as the two best like Bush and McCallister are.

  15. "We have aquired Neifi Perez." Let all the rumors begin!
  16. Maybe Bonds needs his secert formula and the Giants know this. Am I the only one that remembers how horrible he looked early in the year?
  17. How were those shows with O'Reilly/Colbert?
  18. yes ma'am If San Fran backs out, and Boston offers $15 million the money will talk. Not to mention Boston will have a very legit chance to win the WS. I would *hope* Bonds isn't worth $15mil now, after even the Giants shunned him, after it is now proven he failed a drug test, after all of his B.S. But, I have to admit, in today's baseball anything's possible. IMO, if Bonds sullied Aaron's record as a Cub it would curse this franchise for another 100 years. Just keep him away from Cubbie Blue, that's all I care about with this bum. If agree. Especially with his little friends that he wants to keep around.
  19. What scares me about Soriano is that he could have a mediocre year or a good one in 2007. Maybe I've read his history wrong but I just don't see a lot of consistancy.
  20. If the Bears win you're going to go crazy waiting 2 weeks instead of one. I go crazy waiting for 2 weeks for the Super Bowl regardless. IMO it's too much hype & waiting. I can't wait for the reports that a player had his cuticle tore 1/100th of an inch and how it might effect the game.

  22. Pretty interesting. How long of a drive is that for you wvcbxl?
  23. I'm curious if Prior will ever hit 95 again. I just have this feeling he'll top out at 93 even if he's healthy.
  24. Great stuff Roast...thanks!
  25. I can't imagine a manager saying that about a player unless the guy was a cancer in the clubhouse too.
