  1. Deja vous all over again. This is the game where Manning has to take over because the Colt D has gone bye bye.
  2. IMO, this is why you don't pay for any baseball in the first place. Once you start paying for baseball packages they push the envolope and want more money.
  3. Nice to hear Lou actually cares about his pitchers and won't over abuse them again like a certain someone... Prior and Wood aside, I still remember last season when there was barely any time left in the season and we were obviously out of any race, and Dusty left Zambrano out there for like 130-140 the game after he was skipped because his back wasn't feeling right (By the way, Zam was at the Bulls game yesterday sporting dreads, and was alot slimmed down and said he worked hard this offseason to make sure the back or anything else wouldn't be a problem in 07). Sounds to me like Larry disclosed to Lou that Dusty never listened to him. I hope that's the case, as I want to give Rothschild the benefit of the doubt. Me too. Larry was never one of Dusty's boys so this would make sense.
  4. I agree. I'd see if Z would go to 5/16 first and if he doesn't want to I'd trade him. I'm curious about what he said about looking foolish and signing under market value. Is that a possible slam against Ramirez?
  5. Well you better write that in to your GM because they may be the next aquisitions! Floyd can hit pretty well against left or right which is pretty nice. I wish he could play 1st and 3rd too. All right, he can't even play LF too well but you know what I'm getting at! Imagine an OF of Floyd in left, Finley or Erstad in CF and Soriano in Right? Yeech. Lou has to start a ground ball pitcher on that day.
  6. Cliff Floyd? Do you know something we don't BbB?
  7. For Jeff at least. We won't know if it pays off for the Cubs for several years. That's a ton of scratch, and reportedly a NTC as well, which takes away a huge amount of any prospects value. They're able to take a 1st round projection who at the time was considered a more likely bet for FB rather than BB and select him in the 5th round and able to sign him while getting starts at SS and low-A, that's a success, IMO. Not many teams would've done the work or used the resources to find out what his intentions truly were and then to actually take that chance is something that doesn't happen that often. It's similar to when teams draft a player lower than he is slotted and while signing him higher than the slotted pick (Eric Patterson or Hellickson from TB come to mind), is able to prevent him from going to school or going back to school. In this case, it involves not only school and cont. to play BB, but obviously FB as well. Even if Patterson doesn't pan out, the inital aspect of being able to draft and more imp. sign someone with that ceiling is a success. Yes, they were successful signing him, throwing unprecedented money around helps. But we won't know if it pays off for quite a while. Just getting a guy signed is worthless if he turns into nothing and can't be traded for anything of value. He may have a no trade but do you know if it's a full no trade contract?
  8. I'd love to go to Italy.
  9. I don't know who is favored but I think this is going to be a very interesting game. I'd like to see Manning go into the 4th quarter down by 10 and then win the game.
  10. You need a DVR, my friend. His betamax is working just fine. Well actually reel to reel but maybe someday a betamax in my dream world.
  11. You need a DVR, my friend. I'm saving my money so I can buy you those front row Depaul tickets at the Dome!
  12. Since I'm from NY and have no idea where anything is except our great states cities....is Peoria in Montana? It is joke.
  13. Disneyworld? To the National Championship game. He can afford the ticket now. Jeepers don't say that! I think that's only in football!
  14. I'm going to Kinkos to frame this post!
  15. I agree with you but I have a feeling Mr. Hendry doesn't. I'm curious if Hendry thinks of Pie as a future leadoff guy like they tried to push Patterson into being.
  16. It's been reported in recent days that you might see Samard zija, Samard zija, Samardzija, sign a baseball only contract before the Senior Bowl practices begin. Am I the only one who caught this? If this was a brady bunch reference...very funny. I will hereforth refer to him as Mardzija, Mardzija, Mardzija. Or Marsha. I didn't catch it but now I can't think of anything but Marsha and football right now! I was going for one of those Sesame Street spelling things, to sound out the word. Stu --- pid Stu - pid Stupid But I like Marsha. Who doesn't!
  17. I was just curious if any of you would go after this guy to lead off for the Cubs. I'm not saying that this is going to happen but I have a feeling he may be available and IMO a Hendry type of guy to lead off.
  18. If memory serves, I seem to recall him saying he tried steroids very briefly and couldn't discern a real benefit from them. If you ever seen House in person, he's tiny, maybe 5'7"-5'8" on a good day, from what I recall he might've been one of the 1st to try steroids to add velo and that's probably the 1st time he realized that maintaining flexibility is more important than adding mass as it didn't add velo. He believes in nutritional supplements to help speed up the recovery time between outings. btw, according to this he's 5'11 and was 190 lbs when he played. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_House UK's talking real height not listed height! :D
  19. Excellent. Where did you see/hear that? Bruce Levine called into Dan Patrick's show to report it. I believe he said Samardzija could get up to 7 million. Trying to steal Hendry's thunder is he? I wondered what that horrible sound was coming out of Southbend. South Bend __________ Newyorkers  Why was it ok to misspell football in what you quoted but not South Bend? Because I'm from South Bend (actually Mishawaka, but they're the same town) I understand. I can see Mishawaka being misspelled more often than South Bend.
  20. Don't you dare apoligize for a large picture of one of my favorite pitchers of all time! Interesting shoulder heigth by Maddux. I see he is throwing his changeup too.

  23. That's my line of thinking. Look at Deon Sanders as an example.
