  1. Not saying this is in the thinking or going to happen but I was just curious on the rule itself. Do the Cubs have to wait for a year after the draft to trade him or a year after the signing?
  2. I think if he fails in Baseball he can always go back to football and IMO it might not be as easy to do it the other way around. Drew Henson says Hi. And Drew got some money out of it. How many guys go from football to baseball? I agree it's not easy but IMO the switch from baseball pitcher to NFL WR is easier than NFL WR to pitcher.
  3. At least each team gets a chance to prove who's better on the field.
  4. there are about 7.25 million guarenteed reason why he changed his mind. Sorry TO canned you.

  6. Well, one option if you had done Nixon/Wilson in RF would be to keep Jacque around as a 4th OF and used the multitude of savings on Soriano to get a good CF(Drew?), that would eliminate that problem. Or maybe he's in CF and they call up Pie to be the left handed part of a platoon that has Pie/Jones v. RHP and Jones(perish the thought)/Wilson v. LHP. I see where you guys are coming from on this but having Drew and Nixon would worry me too. The potential is there but so is the potential in Prior/Miller pitching. When you have Jones/Pie/Wilson and Guzman/Marshall/Marmol/Mateo waiting behind those pairs, I don't think that it's too much of a worry. Especially when there's only one long term commitment of the group Prior/Miller/Drew/Nixon. Maybe. I just don't see Nixon as being production and as a hurt version of Troy O'Leary. I've never been a big fan of spending too much money on 1 or 2 players either unless they are gaurenteed huge impact bats or pitchers which I don't think Soriano is. I do feel Z is though but it definately depends on the budget too. As someone pointed out the Cubs are only at 105 for 2007 right now so there is still room for some decent manuvering.
  7. It's interesting looking at his heal toe landing and then Hills toe heal in another picture.
  8. 1 year, five million, trot nixon and craig wilson... For a one year committment, and 130-some million dollars less... we could have had about the same production in RF, if not moreso. But we'd be without a leadoff hitter........... I agree but there still are no guarentees that Nixon will be healthy enough to play a whole season though. Platoon players don't play whole seasons. I'm talking about staying off the DL and Nixon has a very tough time doing that. If he goes on the DL that might force the Cubs into a bad decision. 9. Excellent. Where did you see/hear that? Bruce Levine called into Dan Patrick's show to report it. I believe he said Samardzija could get up to 7 million. Trying to steal Hendry's thunder is he? I wondered what that horrible sound was coming out of Southbend.
  10. 6:30 EST? What time are you going to bed these days? 9? :) Of course not because that's when I eat my breakfast. No, Rome is on at 9 and I have a hard time not watching it. It looks as if I'm taping it once again though.
  11. Over the height of his body? Does this cause him to push off the rubber too hard or is it more of a natural push? Natural with Prior... http://www.tristarproductions.com/Sales/Images/Baseball/PriorM-16x10-ABR.jpg I'll pull up a pic of Maddux at foot strike. That's not working for me for some reason. I was pretty excited to that and Maddux's too!
  12. Crap, now what am I going to watch? He's just kidding so thatthere will be less Bear fans rooting for them on TV. What's the deal with the picture of Boy George in your Avitar? Boy George? Everytime I take a quick glance at that picture it looks like the Boy.
  13. I'm not getting this line of thinking. Samardzija has already signed a contract with the Cubs that will pay him something like $7.5M over the next few years if he simply shows up with his spikes and glove. Why would some new contract be needed if he's formally decided on baseball? i don't think that's true. Indeed it is http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/draft/news/261750.html from the 5th paragraph of the article: "Samardzija would receive $7.25 million if he makes baseball his primary sport." the announcement might then be that he has indeed chosen to play only baseball. Or football.

  15. I wish this game wasn't on so late.
  16. So Goony, where are you going to watch the Bears during their Super Bowl game?

  18. Gumble and Simms So it's a lose lose situation then. Oh well, I'll be shooting darts and playing fooseball with the volume down then.

  21. So who are CBS's lead broadcast team.
  22. so you don't think prior has good mechanics? A lot of people have commented that the way in which Prior raises his elbow above his shoulder when delivering is a good way to put extra stress on the shoulder Most of his delivery is solid, I don't like his stride length and arm path though. Too short or too long?
  23. And when they get to the Super Bowl, they'll have the NFC stigma to deal with. What network has the Super Bowl this year?
  24. i would think that pagan will be ahead of ward when it comes to the OF. ward will primarialy be a pinch hitter and sub for lee at 1b and maybe play some lf. I agree. I was just listing the OF's.
