  1. The Saints have nothing to be disappointed about. They will be a team to take seriously next year. Not that they shouldn't have been taken seriously this year. They were the team I was most afraid of in the NFC this year. Brees is an awesome QB. If Brees had time he could have done a lot of damage. I'm not sure why the Saints abandoned the running game just to ease the pressure but Peyton knows his team and I'm sure he had a reason.
  2. But he might go the broadway route. Many out of work actors find their niche there.
  3. Solid bat off the bench. He can pinch hit and then pitch the 7 or 8th inning! I wonder how he would be as a closer if all things do go well. Well I suppose this would be more suited for the Bseball discussion thread. I wouldn't mind a deep pen if Lou can use the pitchers correctly to keep the innings/pitches low for the young guys.
  4. And I hope Hendry is right about Izturis. But, I'm very, very skeptical that Izturis will be any better with a bat than the worst SS's in the league. He's a 260-270 with no power hitter unless he finds a lot of holes. If he does win/get the job he better be spectacular in the field.
  5. He was fired or he stepped down? He's retiring. Just saw it on NFL Network. Until the Giant job opens up? I can't wait to see ESPN go back to kissing his rear again.
  6. Update? Come on, this is toeing the line of arrogance, isn't it? Give me a break, guy. Just having some fun here. That is if OMC doesn't mind you busting his chops. I think he's been pretty good about all this. I'm not trying to kick the man when he's down but he went out on a limb with that statement and it kind of stuck with me. No hard feelings though. Saints fans should be thrilled, obviously. Their team is in the up and ups big time. I realize you're having fun and that's why ya'll were chirping before the game. I suppose I was just saying that for everyone and not just you.
  7. He was fired or he stepped down?
  8. Now if we could just get a major league shortstop, we'd have a really good team. I really hope that the Cubs keep the SS job open during the spring or trade for one as you said. After hearing Lou he will field the best team regardless of how much a player makes. I hope you're right and that Btb is wrong. Does anyone know the amount of money this deal is? I know it's a player option for 2008.
  9. Poor Luke. He's the Nic Jackson of Cub minor league pitchers unfortunately. If Guzman and Prior are both ready and throwing well what are the Cubs going to do with Marquis? I admit it would be a nice problem to have but a possible expensive one.
  10. Interesting move if that happens. I suppose the Raiders should get rid of all their receivers and go to a wishbone offense.

  12. We have a chance to be tied for first and lose to a crappy St. John team. It's going to be a wide open race to the #1 spot for the Garden. ND's just one game out of first right now and don't have to play Pitt :D The bad news is we still haven't won a road game yet and ND goes to the Carrier Dome a week from tomorrow. That could be trouble if the Irish don't take the two games this week like they need to. I just want to get a bye for the first games at MSG because all those games killed us last year.

  14. The first couple of years, they allowed smoking. Right after the WBC, the banned it completely. It was supposed to be banned during the WBC, but I still stole a smoke or two. Now, you get fined if you smoke anywhere on the stadium grounds. And it's not like you can just exit the stadium, either. They have guys standing at the exits that make you cross the street before you light up. Let the Nazi's have their stadium. The time will come when the Padres team will be really bad. When that happens, they will be sad that they shut the smokers out. It's not like it used to be at Jack Murphy/Qualcomm where the fans enjoyed a Padres game regardless of how bad the team was. The tailgaiting alone was a big reason to go to a game. Petco doesn't have tailgaiting. I can't wait to see the revolt. I was hoping it would have happened by now. Unfortunately, the other teams in the NL West have been pretty bad of late, delaying the inevitable. People tailgate at baseball games? Very much so in Milwaukee. Really? I just thought they went to bars and then went to the game. Interesting.

  16. I can see why you wrote that as I forgot to put right handed bat!
  17. Are they bringing in PAC 10 refs to do the game? If the game is a blow out at least we can watch Larry, Curly and Moe do their thing.
  18. I agree. Just get refs that can do their job and that helps eliminate the problem.
  19. We have a chance to be tied for first and lose to a crappy St. John team. It's going to be a wide open race to the #1 spot for the Garden. I really love watching Big East basketball, sans Pitt. It is top to bottom much better than the ACC, yet never really gets the credit that it should. Cuse, why isn't Harris dominating more than what he has? He's having problems fitting in with the offensive scheme. I think he needs more movement and and our offense has always been a pro styled type of offense. I think he'll be fine next year when the 3 seniors leave. I was surprised to see what a poor shooter he was, not really poor but below average. I think he needs more touches to get comfortable and get into a rhythm. Heck, even Devendorf isn't even starting anymore. The ACC always gets the hype and it doesn't bug me because they play it on the court for the Championship. I'm not too thrilled with 16 teams but I do like having the ex USA teams in the league and that they are all in one group and not divisions. Oh yeah and Pitt just mugs you up and down the court and I enjoy disliking that team.
  20. I wonder if the Tigers are just going to release Perez then if that's the way they feel. Plus, if Baker is such a winner, why hasn't he been hired?
  21. So if Floyd is signed the number 1 bat off the bench will be Pagan? Also, the signing of Floyd really means that the Cubs have to get someone to play CF that can cover some ground. I'm sure Soriano could be fine if he can handle CF. Pie would be better defensively.

  23. Smartzeolic throws right handed, correct?
  24. The Zambrano Family? Did Z make him an offer he couldn't refuse?
  25. If the Pats could run kickoffs that well against the Colts I'm a little worried on how well the Bears will....yikes.
