  1. I go to the local bar for Sunday Ticket. How much does it cost to have it in a residential setting? I think it cost me around $200 this year. I figure I'd easily spend more than that over the course of the season if I went to a bar every game. How much is a beer in a NYC bar these days?
  2. I've been saying the same thing. Also, I'm wondering about 2008 too. With a few of those no-trade contracts, the starting rotation doesn't seem to have much room for anybody for 2008, especially if Prior and/or Miller make healthy returns. I can't believe we can't put together a package for Church with some of this young pitching. I still think Hendry should go after a superstar SS (Tejada, Young, Renteria, etc.) using some combination of Jones, Izturis, Eyre, Dempster, Marshall, Guzman, Novoa, etc. At midseason (or next winter) you might be able to add players like Miller, Marquis, or Prior. Maybe I'm prejudiced, but I see a lot of players on that list that could help many teams (depending on their needs). I think it will depend on how well the O's are doing. If they are in the race I doubt they make a move but if they are hopelessly out of it I see them dumping Tejada to the highest bidder.
  3. And IMO it's arrogance like that that pisses people off. I agree it's your right to think it's an uneducated baseball question but like Edward K maybe this is their way to see the light. So we're concerned this guy won't join nsbb if we laugh at his stupid question? No but I do like casual or new fans to be able to ask a question without being mocked. Again, obviously it's your and other fans right to say what you think as it's mine to feel this way.
  4. I see an obvious way around it. Addai and Rhodes have the benefit of playing with the Indy passing game. Benson and Jones do much of their work on their own. I think the Bears have a clear RB advantage, while Indy has a clear passing game advantage. I see it as the Bears have better run blockers and the Colts have better pass blockers.

  6. I'm not so sure of that. I think many fans have no idea of the breakdown of how the minors interact with MLB. I agree those guys would have mentioned it many times over but I really don't think the casual fan would know all the minor league info. Heck, I'm still learning stuff and I've been a fan for many a score!
  7. I haven't lost my cable signal in years, at least that I know of.
  8. I think it's absurd that a guy who would take the time to write in to the Cubs internet based Q&A wouldn't be able to figure that out on his own. Nobody has ever said anything about that ever. Did he really think he stumbled across this nugget? That tells me he's completely oblivious, and deserving of ridicule. Well that's one way to alieniate a casual fan.
  9. Plus the cap room to get other players. I wonder who the Edge is rooting for?
  10. I wish they were still in Geneva NY.
  11. Felipe is another ex Blue Jay that Wilken had a history with, like Izturis.
  12. I wish Glendonn well. I hope he beats this thing and is able to pitch again.
  13. Is he the next Cecil Turner?
  14. i think that guy has sat behind me at every baseball game i've ever attended. But I bought you a beer! Doesn't that allow me some sound off time?
  15. Bears are underdogs, and I believe rightfully so. I'm not complaining about it like I was when people were picking the Seahawks over the Bears. I really believe Chicago will have to play its best game of the year to win this one. Indy has the edge going in. If Manning pulls it off, you're going to see gushing over him like crazy. So if the Bears pull off the upset, would it be bad that they would receive praise? No, not at all why so defensive? I simply stated what I think is going to happen. WE'RE A LITTLE JUMPY, OK? OK?!?!??!?!?! I even said the Bears won! Please Bear fans...don't touch any caffine for the next 9 days!
  16. Ordenez was fun to watch defensively his first couple of years with the Mets.

  18. This game reminds me of an NCAA BCS Championship game. Manning is the Heisman Trophy winner and the other team feels slighted and wants to prove it on the field. This is how it'll play out. The Bears win and then the Press will gush all over Grossman/Bears and tear down Manning. I've seen this show so many times before.
  19. Izzy on this site and Dempster or Ramirez at Wrigley. If Jones stays he could easily be the main target again, especially if he is open about his dislike for Chicago.
  20. Garrett is being groomed as the future HC. It's speculated now that Jones will look at a defensive minded coach. Of course, I just got an email that over the last few days Jimmy Johnson has been seen around the ranch and that over the years he and Jones have become friends again. Jimmy needs some extra money eh?
  21. Wow...thanks Vance! No American Girl though and that really crushes my plans big time. Darn.
  22. I was wondering when the promotions for the games at Wrigley listed?
  23. The Cubs have a few bullpen guys that teams would be interested in. I'd like to see Hendry get a quality SS prospect.
  24. He mentioned that when they got him. I'm thinking that was before they signed Lilly and Marquis though, no? Regardless, there's really no need for three lefties in the BP. I still think one of them is a strong cadidate to get traded, along with Jones. Yes it was before those signings but there is still an open 5th spot on the starter depth chart.
