  1. And Vance, I heard that Coach P is one of six assistants still under contract with the Cowboys.
  2. Probably. What is the relationship between Lovie and the Bears owner and GM'?
  3. By the sounds of it, it's Texas or the highway. How has Sammy done Spring Training wise in his career?
  4. How does he become available? Cha ching. Money talks and if the Cowboys want him I'm sure they'll "contact" him and let him know that the money is there for him. If the Bears decide to go on the cheap or in their words a "fair" price they may lose out on Lovie. I know he has a year left in his deal but something may be worked out. I like Lovie and I think he is a very good coach but the Boys may make a very good offer that the Bears my accept. This all depends on 3 things: -Do the Bears lowball Lovie -Is Lovie really interested in going to Dallas -Is Jones willing to pay the picks for Lovie Lovie's not Nick Saban. Saban's a lying piece of trash. When Lovie says he wants to stay in Chicago, it's because he wants to stay in Chicago. The money may become a contention but there is plenty of time to work out a deal. You won't see Lovie skipping out on his contract. Not ever. That's probably why Jones & the Cowboys are interested in him----he gives something Dallas hasn't had since Landry: honest, straight-shooter. I think it's hilarious that NOW the country realizes what we've known all along: Lovie rules. I hope you're right since most if not all of you seem to really like the man.

This all depends on 3 things: -Do the Bears lowball Lovie -Is Lovie really interested in going to Dallas -Is Jones willing to pay the picks for Lovie While I think Jones is more than willing to pay the $$ for Lovie, I don't think he's willing to pay with picks. It's not his way. Jones has always believed the talent on the field is more important than the coach. My guess is that after interviewing Singletary, Jones will attempt to hire both Turner and Singletary away from the 49ers. I think his true desire is for Turner to come aboard to groom Garrett and have Singletary run the defense. Garrett and Singletary would give the Cowboys two young talents on each side of the ball and the one who shows the most promise would end up becoming the next coach when Turner steps down. You're probably right and you would know more about Jones than I would. I was just curious on the Cowboy draw and how it might effect Lovie along with the fair offer from the Bears. I like Lovie being a Bear coach, he seems like a good man and is a very good coach and he seems to have a lot of Bear fan posters here pretty happy with him. But Turner? How long can these guys live off the Walker trade? I don't think any of the Cowboy assistants have done anything in the NFL from those glory years, have they?
  6. But he has Finley/Pie in CF for one scenerio and Jones in CF for the other so it doesn't seem that he is thinking of soriano in CF at all. I suppose not that it matters what some writer thinks. He's likely still operating on old information. I probably should have figured that out when he mentioned the Cubs were thinking of shifting Banks from SS to 1st.

  9. Thanks for telling us who we're playing, ESPN. Really, means a lot. ND jumps from 22nd to 21st despite losing to St. John's. I keep forgetting that in college basketball, losing one game doesn't necessarily mean you plummet. Especially if you're Arizona. No Mac tonight, do you feel better about your chances?
  10. Jones is just taking his time until Lovie becomes available on Monday.
  11. Thanks Vance. I wonder why he never mentions Soriano playing CF?
  12. Barry doesn't get his friends on the payroll and in the locker room along with some very good steroid rules that the Giants put in, even regarding BALCO.
  13. I was answering the soul post when he commented on the honeymoon being over and I was thinking if the Cubs had a "nice" little 1-9 start right from the beginning if the honeymoon would be over right then and there. And Fred, they'll win for you on Opening Day so our hopes will be on an undefeated season only to have them crushed the next game.
  14. I think this Sosa kid may hit 500 homeruns someday, mark my words.
  15. I wonder how much the high grass had to do with that.
  16. If you add Hockey Detroit has quite a few. Plus, you forgot their NBA title(s).
  17. Marmol is truggling a little bit. I wonder if it's time for him to rest that arm before the season starts.
  18. I thought that too. They do have the same numbers offensively so I could see why the makers of that toy could make a mistake.
  19. Probably Buck Coats or maybe Hendry will make a 2-1 deal soon eh?
  20. If they do sign Clemens and then add Helton? Shhheeez! I don't want to focus too much on Helton on this thread but I think he would be a very good 2 hitter if he's healthy, especially the way the Sox play the game. I would still love to see the Jays take first in the division! If you think about it, this team could easily be a heck of a hitting team but they could also trun into the Cubs have have a plethora of injuries.
  21. I just want the Cubs to be able to plug a guy from their farm into their team every year and it really doesn't matter to me if they have all the top prospects. I like how the Yanks sell theirs as being good and if Hendry could market his as well he could get some decent players in trades. The key to me is that Hendry and staff evaluate correctly and trade the guys that have value but will not turn into MLB players and keep the ones that are going to be. The Yanks do an incredible job of this.
  22. I'm very curious if the money is going to be thrown around next year as it was this year. I have a feeling it won't be.
  23. Did the Cubs make a move to put them at 40 or did the release of Rusch bring them to 40?
