  1. I don't know how long he's been throwing to throw the 50 but it's nice to hear that he is. I think he would be a very dominate closer if he is able to do it and having Dempster and the rest to close when Wood can't is just a bonus. If I remember correctly Lou did a nice job of rotating his closers when he needed to when he won with the Reds. I really think how Lou uses this pen is going to be a big factor in the Cubs being able to make the playoffs and how they do from there.
  2. I always thought of Weiss as a Rick Majaris type guy but that's what I get for steriotyping. He's a good coach but he seems like a jerk and I've waited to say this until he pushed me over the limit. I'm happy with Syracuse's effort recruiting and I expect it to get better from here but they have to start winning games. Playing 2 Big 10 teams this year should help us add to the win column.
  3. Oh and you might be surprised to know that his father is your new boss.
  4. It seemed to me they wanted to keep the Colts in front of them and the missed tackles screwed up that strategy.
  5. Doesn't Lovie have to agree with the defensive and offensive game plans going into the Super Bowl?
  6. I think I would prefer ARods next 5 yrs to Z's, but that is just me. I think it is more likely that Z will break down and not be worth the money he is likely to command. I agree, especially if the other pitchers do well.
  7. I always enjoy the split squad games. Just over 3 weeks longer before that March 1st game.
  8. Boeheim said when Penn State joined the Big 10 that "Penn State will NEVER win the Big 10". He was pretty pissed they left and didn't join the Big East. Penn State would never win the Big East either. Hell, they'd be the third best team in the Patriot League. True but I think they would have had a better chance staying in the east recruiting basketball wise. Football, not so much.
  9. Then the Rays are a very good match to make a nice trade with the Cubs.
  10. How many players did you guys get from Jersey? I'd have to look. First time in forever that we got none from Maryland (got 6 from there last year) EDIT: According to rivals.com, we have 7 from PA, 2 from MI, 2 from NC, 1 from CA, 2 from DE, 1 from OH, 3 from NY, 1 from IL and 1 from VA. Shocked that there are none from NJ or MD. Those are usually "pipeline" states for us Wow...none? I didn't expect that, I thought a couple but none is surprising. I wonder how many ND got? We have 6 possibly 7 from NJ this year but no 4 or more star guys. I see 2 from NJ for ND so far (at least 1 is an impact player)-I'm not sure if there will be any more. Really? Those sob's kept a lot of kids home. No wonder why he didn't go to the Hurricanes. Wisconsin is another school that sneaks in there too.
  11. He just said what 90% of them are thinking.
  12. Hey I liked it when they sucked too because we used to get quite a few. In 2002 we had 19 Jersey guys and last year we had 2.

  15. You only make the Z deal if ARod has his contract reworked so he remains a Cubs for the next 5-8 years. It is possible to give him a shot in 08 but if the Cubs resign Z at 16-18 there may not be enough money.
  16. How many players did you guys get from Jersey? I'd have to look. First time in forever that we got none from Maryland (got 6 from there last year) I'd be surprised if you got that many, as I told you...the sleeping giant has awoken!
  17. Wow...what a horrible way for Texas Tech to lose a game. Throw the ball away from your basket, far away.

  19. Wow, he'd be like Bugs Bunny.
  20. Toliver to LSU Hell yeah! Get McKnight in the fold, and we could have a top 3 recruiting class! Congrats Vance. This thread is depressing.
  21. Good idea. No one wants to consider Z leaving yet, but if we think he will, this might work. Maybe I'm overvaluing Carlos, but I'd guess it wouldn't take much more than him to land A-rod. But like I said, I'd rather not think about losing Zambrano. I think Z's a wonderful pitcher but IMO he is not going to take a home team discount and I don't blame him if he doesn't. I think he does like Chicago but if I remember correctly he said he won't negotiate during the season so Mr. Hendry has his work cut out. If these young guys do step up or Prior/Miller/Marquise are really throwing well this could give Hendry some very good options if he needs a SS or another position to be filled due to injury.
  22. That's why you trade Lovie to the Cowboys and use those picks + others for McNabb. i'm confused...so you would be out a coach with a hurt QB? I like McNabb, he would make the Bears the odds on favs for the super bowl, but the chances of him getting hurt ar soo damn high Slide Rivera to the Head spot.
  23. That's why you trade Lovie to the Cowboys and use those picks + others for McNabb.
  24. If Z isn't going to resign I'd move him in a multi player trade to the Yanks. It depends on how desperate the Yanks are to move him on what I'd offer.
  25. I'm afraid of what we'd have to give up for him. Personally, just about anything would be worth it. The only possible drawback to McNabb is that he finished the last two seasons on IR but before then had no significant injuries I'm aware of. When/if healthy, he might be the third best active QB in the game (behind Peyton and Brady) and possibly the second dependant upon how you view Brady. In 04 he had a completion % of 64 and threw 31 TDs to only 8 INTs. That's a better TD:INT ratio than Brady ever had and a higher completion % than he's ever had. McNabb would be worth whatever you have to give up. I'd like to see him go back home but I wonder about the salary cap hit it would be for the Bears.
