  1. Boras is not Darvish's agent, but yeah, same situation. Yup. Quick google of “Yu Darvish agent” pulled up an article on Boras running his mouth about “non-competitive cancer.” I should have dug deeper before posting. On a related note, if I ever (God forbid) have cancer, I hope it is non-competitive cancer.
  2. I think its noteworthy that the teams involved are teams the Cubs would rather not see improve (Doyers and VB's). Meaning, if Boras pulled this garbage and other teams involved were Angels and Yankees, Theo withdraws the offer a week ago. If the angels get him at a lower price, fine! That sets the market lower for remaining available starters. But if the Brewers get him at a lower price, or the Dodgers, that gives them better value as they compete head to head with the Cubs (the brewers in the division would then become a legitimate threat having added 3 impact players to an unspectacular but solid core, the Dodgers would widen their projected advantage in the playoffs. This has created quite the stalemate. Nobody is budging up, and Boras knows nobody is backing off.
  3. You’ve always been our slump buster, Butters
  4. At this point, I'm going to need some evidence that Yu Darvish is actually a person. Sounds made up to me. and if he were a real person who actually played baseball, wouldn't he have signed by now? Checkmate fake baseball news.
  5. I think the dissonance will be David Ortiz going in first-ballot despite having actually failed a drug test As long as the hall is more about who is not in than who is in, it’s stupid and irrelevant.
  6. welcome to the forum! sweet av Look at the new guy with his fancy “av” getting all noticed by David.
  7. I, for one blame Javy; by not putting a ring on it, he's rendered an otherwise outstanding thread title factually incorrect. Her twitter handle name is Mrs Baez something something...can't remember name...something.
  8. Me? Nah. I'm 41 years old and have too many miles on my arm.
  9. Fangraphs says 12/9 on Lester and 12/23 on Ross Only because Ross had to wait for Medicare approval to run his medicals.
  10. I feel like MLB needs to consider moving the arbitration deadlines and hearings to earlier in the off-season in the next CBA. I think a lot of the hang up with this off-season has been teams waiting to see where they stand after arbitration numbers are determined,
  11. This offseason is so slow, I actually visited the social forum.
  12. Better?
  13. Also, the one hit was an error. It was a no-hitter and should be retroactively made one. Kevin Orie won't mind. three hours later: Did I make one too many robot jokes and you have me on ignore?
  14. This is my thought. Duensing doesn't move Montgomery to the rotation, he allows for him to be moved off the team in trade.
  15. Also, the one hit was an error. It was a no-hitter and should be retroactively made one. Kevin Orie won't mind.
  16. Ranked by gamescore, its far and away #1. Also, Brandon Morrow has #5. Also also, Nolan Ryan has 3 of the top 10. top game scores all-time
  17. Congrats! Kid can't handle my 20-month-old's heater.
  18. Petition to change thread title to “This is where we talk about how adequate Kris Bryant is” until after arbitration hearings are done.
  19. Because rosenthal basically said the opposite yesterday, or at least mlbtrade rumors linked to a rosenthal article in the athletic (I don’t subscribe) saying that reports of Cobb asking for 20 mil per and the cubs moving on to Darvish because of Cobb’s Asking price are wrong.
  20. Nothing is ever going to happen.
  21. this feels like the si,ultaneous csstro trade and zobrist signing there has to be something else happening contingent upon yelich and cain I think it’s one or the other, not both. Right. He means contingent on whether it’s yelich or Cain. One is a trade (ostensibly precluding a trade for a pitcher) the other is a signing (allowing for a trade for a pitcher).
  22. I knew none of this, and still found it hilarious.
  23. Do tell!
  24. This question/prosposal has been brought up in different forms before in here but Darvish in that scenario I’d say 95% of the people who’ve voiced their opinion would pick Darvish (and 100% of the smart poster on here would pick him). I think Darvish is the clear option in just about any scenario short of Jake’s market turning in to a 1 year deal or Darvish approaching $30 million in aav (or whatever the FO has determined is the AAV they won’t touch or if they go to it, it affects future plans). This is way over the top. Darvish is the clear preference, but Jake at 1 year is ridiculous. The draft pick is the biggest hindrance to jakes market. Even without it Yu may be the favorite, but not at, say, 3 years vs 5. But the answer to the original question is Darvish.
