  1. I know he's not much, if anything, of a prospect but keep this man in the organization even if it's as a coach or bullpen catcher probably an awful teammate who will attempt to parlay his moment in the sun into a reality TV career.
  2. We have 10 games until our next scheduled off day and then another scheduled off day 6 games after that. So if we let Monty go one more time and then bring Lester back, with those off days, I think that would roughly give everyone an extra day off between starts the next 2-3 times through the rotation going forward before the last stretch of games in September/October. My math may be slightly off but think it's roughly right. Looks like this is happening, good to get everyone (not just Lester) a little extra rest. I don't even consider it extra rest. They are in the middle of their longest stretch of the year without an off day (20). This is just Joe fixing what the schedule makers screwed up. Add that its the time of year where team could very likely be making up postponed games, and its kinda ridiculous. Its just serendipitous that its Lester instead of random AAA call up.
  3. Did anyone mention that 6 players with 20 hrs tied the NL record?
  4. With Happ dong in the 17 run barrage against Pittsburgh, the Cubs just tied the NL record for most players with 20 hrs with 6. Rizzo Bryant Schwarberer Contreras Baez Happ. Less exciting because the Cards and Nats did it last year, but still cool.
  5. Watching the Willson gifs until all three swings fell into alignment was WAY better than the eclipse.
  6. And against the league since the break sans 30 points of OBP .279/.354/.482 since the break. =D>
  7. What is the latest?
  8. Javy laying off some tough pitches.
  9. And how bad is Schwarber right now that he's sitting in favor of Almora who is OPSing .599 against righties?
  10. How sad is that? I'm hoping Zobwrist has something left and the rest will do him well. That said, I have no problem handing out rest generously the rest of the season to him and Addy.
  11. [tweet] [/tweet]Thomas F. (that really is his middle initial) LaStella with another start, and I don't even mind.
  12. I don't really care about his platoon-protected numbers. He hasn't been good at all. the more i hear from you, the more i hate you Seriously. Only one-fourth of MLB pitchers are left-handed these days. Even if he's a platoon player in the near term, its by far the strong side of the platoon. His other weakness is addressed when a LOOGY comes in to face him, its usually about the time you're wanting to replace him for defense anyway. He's not what we thought he was (right now) but he's far from worthless.
  13. Serious question: Why wouldn't Puerto Rican show up as Native American, Spanish and African?
  14. Was he out, what, four straight games, because of trade negotiations, minor injury, or just because?
  15. Both right. 1% idiots in a 10 million+ fanbase is still a 100,000 idiots. Plenty to ruin a guy's life.
  16. This .... this is beautiful. *single tear*
  17. Just need continued Brewers sucking and all will be cool. It's funny, I have a hard time rooting against NL central teams. I want pirates and brewers to keep winning almost as often as the Cubs do and take both WC spots. I feel like it legitimizes the Cubs in some way. Screw the Cardinals.
