    There were questions about Addy sticking at SS? I thought he had the "double plus hands". I only read questions about arm strength. Just never read he was a plus plus defender. I remember the "doubleplus hands". Questions were about arm strength.

    Not to mention the FO that spent significant resources and spared no expenses in overhauling the development system. I think some people really underrate that aspect when discussing the Cubs hit rate on prospects. Theo said it in his intro PC, that he wanted to create the "Cubs Way", standardize development throughout the minor league levels so that instructors, coaches and managers were all delivering the same message and focusing on developing the same way. They (via Ricketts) invested heavily in new Cubs facilities in Mesa and in the DR so that their prospects had access to the best tools and equipment possible. Yup, I think a great player like Bryant makes it no matter how your player development runs, but even very good players can be ruined (Baez, willlson, maybe even rizzo- see Padres, San Diego) by bad player development.

    A year ago, I made a bunch of posts about it. just kidding, it was a month ago So a month in St Louis feels like a year? I believe it. Five years in the metro east felt like a lifetime.

    But significantly less disappointed that you were with his 2016. I think that's the overarching point. You said it, low expectations. I think we all have low (lower than career avg) for Heyward this year. Anything better, makes me very happy.

    Last year had a 5 man bench, this year it will be 4. Together Szczur and La Stella combined for 369 PA, and Coghlan had another 128. Add in that we won't be carrying 3 catchers and they may get a few abs.

    with 5 ml starter quality infielders, there's just not that many ab's to go around. Think about scenarios when LaStella would have played on this team. Not many. How often are you going to sit two of Russell, Bryant, Zobrist and Baez? That's true. However, when would Szczur ever get into the lineup? As a defensive replacement for Schwarber in a game where Jay has been lifted for a PH is about the only scenario I can think of considering the other options available. Can Seal Boy play SS? True. Whoever the 25th man is on this roster isn't going to get much playing time. So deep. Almost makes me think Kawasaki adds the most value as court jester. Almost.
