  1. Ranked by gamescore, its far and away #1. Also, Brandon Morrow has #5. Also also, Nolan Ryan has 3 of the top 10. top game scores all-time
  2. Congrats! Kid can't handle my 20-month-old's heater.
  3. Petition to change thread title to “This is where we talk about how adequate Kris Bryant is” until after arbitration hearings are done.
  4. Because rosenthal basically said the opposite yesterday, or at least mlbtrade rumors linked to a rosenthal article in the athletic (I don’t subscribe) saying that reports of Cobb asking for 20 mil per and the cubs moving on to Darvish because of Cobb’s Asking price are wrong.
  5. Nothing is ever going to happen.
  6. this feels like the si,ultaneous csstro trade and zobrist signing there has to be something else happening contingent upon yelich and cain I think it’s one or the other, not both. Right. He means contingent on whether it’s yelich or Cain. One is a trade (ostensibly precluding a trade for a pitcher) the other is a signing (allowing for a trade for a pitcher).
  7. I knew none of this, and still found it hilarious.
  8. Do tell!
  9. This question/prosposal has been brought up in different forms before in here but Darvish in that scenario I’d say 95% of the people who’ve voiced their opinion would pick Darvish (and 100% of the smart poster on here would pick him). I think Darvish is the clear option in just about any scenario short of Jake’s market turning in to a 1 year deal or Darvish approaching $30 million in aav (or whatever the FO has determined is the AAV they won’t touch or if they go to it, it affects future plans). This is way over the top. Darvish is the clear preference, but Jake at 1 year is ridiculous. The draft pick is the biggest hindrance to jakes market. Even without it Yu may be the favorite, but not at, say, 3 years vs 5. But the answer to the original question is Darvish.
  10. You literally bolded the words "without the velocity of a pitch" He was thinking bp style tossing compared to real pitching So even if we go with 1 foot added per mph, he’d be adding 80-100 ft with live pitching. 480-500 ft bombs. Dude is a beast.
  11. Chili fixes Heyward THIS SEASON. Book it. A little disappointed. I was expecting at least one “user name checks out”
  12. There may be a big market for RFs who play great defense and hit like 160 lb. middle infielders. Chili fixes Heyward THIS SEASON. Book it.
  13. I think the line of thinking is, 1. Cubs were “out” on front line high dollar and years FA pitchers this offseason, 2. Cubs are now “in” on dervish, Ergo, Darvish’s years or AAV must be down. That’s not the only reason the Cubs could be in now. I didn’t say it was a good line of thinking. :)
  14. I am not sure Jake is going to get more than Darvish but i think Jake has not given signs of coming down from his asking price and Darvish may have. That is why the Cubs are after Darvish now IMO. I think Darvish is the better pitcher going forward so if it were me i sign Darvish. I still haven't seen any indication that Darvish "may have" reduced his asking price. Darvish is obviously the better pitcher going forward, but if the numbers end up (not that they will) with Darvish @ 6 yrs/$160 mil. and Arrieta @ 4 yrs./$90 mil. it might be a tough decision. I think the line of thinking is, 1. Cubs were “out” on front line high dollar and years FA pitchers this offseason, 2. Cubs are now “in” on Darvish. Ergo, Darvish’s years or AAV must be down.
  15. He claimed that Darvish was signing with the Cubs because his source was the doctor who performed the team physical on him. Great way to lose a source.
  16. Longoria getting 15M AAV probably wasn't going to sink the Cardinals at any point in the future. If anything the net positive is that taking on his money wouldn't lower the cost of going after someone like Archer. The Cardinals can trade for all the Longorias and Colomes and sign all the Addison Reeds and Dexter Fowlers they want. It's the Archer/Donaldson/Machado tier of players they truly need to be a persistent threat to the division. Isn’t the theory that a team of 25 guys at 2 WAR beats a team with 5 ten WAR guys and 20 replacement level players? I have no idea what I’m talking about, but I feel like I read that recently.
  17. hilarious
  18. Why would a team in the Dodgers system want to help us?
  19. dance
  20. lmao its a schtick, right. surely its a schtick.
  21. I dont care what his WAR is if hes an abuser, I dont want to root for him. Trade him for Archer if he so valuable. an unsubstantiated instagram comment from his wife's friend is all we have to go off. not saying it's not true that something happened, but regardless, am i misunderstanding the reason you made your edit? Its nice to be important, but its more important to be nice.
  22. I'm a little slow, but I'm not following. How does trading away a middle infielder make more sense if followed up by a trade for a starting pitcher (whom you'd likely need to use a bat to trade for). It seems it would make it less likely.
  23. Lee's butt was much higher.
  24. Remember when we were upset about giving a 31 year old reliever with a 171 ERA+ 3years/12million? Its a good time to be a reliever.
