  1. No one here can say they thought 95 wins was not enough. The Cubs are exactly who we thought they were -in spite of slightly above average bad luck with injuries. The Brewers are not what we thought they were. PS fly the W
  2. Did he actually own oneOh yes, it’s very nice ***I told them we already got one***
  3. It’s good. Now two of those things need to happen.
  4. Yeah, my thought has nothing to do with Schwarber. Total tangent.
  5. The only thing I can think of is that they don't want Bryant at 3B with a sore wrist (glove hand, right?) Otherwise, I definitely prefer Schwarber over Bote vs Wainwright.
  6. This is purely anecdotal, but it feels like he gets called out on close pitches way more than anyone else on the team. His patience should be helping him, but he's being screwed on marginal pitches I'd love to see some research on the thesis: the strikezone is bigger in high-leverage situations. (not with Schwarber; overall) or Star players (hitters or pitchers) get more help with the strikezone in high leverage situations.
  7. I haven't been following the game thread, but Pirates announcers are talking about the play with Rizzo comparing it to the Bartman play. Replaying over and over. But then a ball is hit to shortstop and Javy is the anti-Alex Gonzalez.
  8. The game right after we clinch. I'm good with it.
  9. No one wants to be a part of this epic collapse. I’m mostly joking.
  10. “One of his favorite excuses was that he was young” Are we talking about temper and abuse or his baseball career? Chapman was still abusive at 27, and Addy was only, what, 22 at the time. Still tons of time for him to develop.
  11. Less than Zero. Why is this even a conversation? Because two years removed from a World Series championship we're so spoiled that being about to win a 3rd straight division championship, with a team that has dealt with a huge number of injuries, is insufficient. I like being spoiled.
  12. Career 99 OPS+
  13. Let's stop and admire (read:vomit) how hard this is to do.
  14. Two months later, but from what I'm posting below there was no saving Z as a Cub. I have absolutely no memory of this happening at all, I must have been really checked out. I was at this game. He basically threw behind chipper. Twice.
  15. So is Strope mostly dead or all dead?
  16. Good news for the Cubs either way. I feel like a rainout today is better than a win. I don’t care if they reported to the ballpark. No one threw a pitch. As long as nobody destroyed anyone else’s boom box this is a win. Probably washed out again Thursday = double win. Pitchers get ridiculously needed rest. The screwing over happened 13 months ago when this year’s schedule was released. This is the baseballs gods granting mercy,
  17. I know you’re being silly here, but I’ve often wondered why in big games managers don’t start a starter that throws with one hand and then after an inning switch to a pitcher that throws with the other hand to gain the platoon advantage for the next five innings or so. Unwritten rules I suppose. And starters’ routines, yadayada.
  18. Good thing we didn't get Ohtani and went with the safe bet for our big offseason starting pitching splash. Oh.
  19. Are the Dodgers still weak to lefties? OPS LH .708 RH .782 I can't help but think the gif is a proper reaction to this post. Hamels, Lester and Q look good against those splits.
  20. You inadvertently left an option off: -- I'm a stupid moron with an ugly face and a big butt and my butt smells and I like to kiss my own butt.
  21. Definitely, my post clearly says that signing a generational talent should be a priority (actually I said higher priority than not losing draft picks). The “if it’s not broke sentiment” meant they shouldn’t intentionally try to create new holes.
