  1. I'm still for signing that elephant. or jennie finch
  2. Wow. If Hendry ever pants'd another GM that bad, they'd immediately start work on his plaque in the GM wing of the Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, he'd have to retire, since no other team would ever make a trade with him again. Way. Off. Base. and not amusing. Am I missing something here? Its just that while I don't think a healthy Wood and Dope gets you A-rod, I also don't think the suggestion was preposterous. Nor do I think that it would get Hendry into the hall of fame. That it would make Hendry look evil or make GM's beware of him is also something that I firmly do not think. Add to the list of things I fail to believe the idea that "nobody's" post was humorous or his degradation of another poster's idea was acceptable. In summary, I found the post "way off base, and not amusing" ...just me, I suppose.
  3. Must.....be......optimistic......ahhhhhh Maddux goes 8 innings tonight. 92 pitches, 51 for strikes.
  4. You know what? DON"T win. See if I care.
  5. i was wondering why lawton was standing in - i'd never seen that before. I saw macias stand in while Maddux was warming up at a Cubs/Reds game. ITs not uncommon.

  7. if you can't be good with the ladies...
  8. Of all the stats I've ever read, that's by far the most conclusive helping me work out today's result. 8) Here..... this one is much more relevant and has far better predictive ability with respect to the winner of tonight's contest..... CUBS are 0-2 on days when Hornkohl gets married.... 9,813-9,267 when he doesn't. Go CUBS !!! Lmao, Go cubs Are the Cubs REALLY above .500 over the last 19,082 games?
  9. I'd guess about 2M. Possibly 3M, but not likely. And of course he won't get any more multi-year offers. In that case, I really think the Royals should offer him 2.5 for a year ... Their attendance is down and nobody in the state of Kansas cares about the team much any more. I might make the trip to the stadium if Sosa were playing. Sure, he isn't even a shell of what he once was, but I'd love to see my first Sosa homer live. I think he'd get 5+ from an AL team.
  10. This from the cubs.com article on Wellemeyer.
  11. I'm fast    keep it up...we're winning. BTW, most Cubs fans are very superstitious about these things. Perhaps we'll bring you on as our official lineups guy if we win today. How 'bout it mods?
  12. didin't a cards fan post the official line-ups last game too? What's up?
  13. That just might be the best lineup we've put out this year. That's because dusty's been resting the good players all year. Now that the games are important, he puts out the best lineup.
  14. Curse you for making me think positive! i know. they are sucking me back in again. i cannot kick myself of this habit! May the fleas of a thousand camel infest your armpits for eternity. Thanks, Klinger. I'm assuming that's a "MASH" referece. A little before my time. I actually learned that curse on a study abroad trip in the middle east.
  15. He was on today. 0fer4 with a K.

  17. I have the blues brothers version of "Sweet home Chicago" in my radio now.
  18. Curse you for making me think positive!
  19. Yep, the end of this lost season is far more important than the rest of Wood's career. especially if he's throwing "wicked sliders". That's gotta be good for the shoulder. They were certainly "wicked." He looked extremely nasty. Which is the exact reason the Cubs need him to get healthy and return to the rotation. That's my point. If he's still trying to throw that pitch with a "frayed labrum" he's crazy. Just because its only one inning doesn't mean that he can throw whatever he wants out there. You couldn't be more right. Now all we have to do is convince him, rothschild, baker and hendry. *sigh*
  20. But its a save opportunity now right? Nope, you can't create your own save situation. He didn't, burnitz did.

  22. I hate this!! I'm starting to care about Cubs baseball again. (even if it is just who gets HBP)
