  1. Yep, the end of this lost season is far more important than the rest of Wood's career. especially if he's throwing "wicked sliders". That's gotta be good for the shoulder.
  2. First pitch strikes to all five batters. So important.
  3. Pitch 1 - Called Strike Pitch 1 - Called Strike Pitch 1 - Foul Pitch 1 - Swinging Strike First pitch strikes are good.
  4. Nope. Dempster hasn't lost the job and Woody hasn't shown enough to take it yet. Ask me again in two weeks.
  5. They don't usually add to their lead before a loss though. Always looking for new ways to lose.
  6. I liked your Conan baseball head better. :( Nothing can last forever... Woo! The Danimal is in the radio booth. As in yogurt? I can't say yogurt without laughing... A couple days ago, a single father (weightlifter...ahem) comes to the office next to mine to visit the single mother who works there. He's asking advice on raising his daughter. The daughter has a female rash. THe singlemother suggests giving her yogurt. The guy responds with (in best jock voice).."you want me to put yogurt down there?!?" I can't say yogurt without laughing...
  7. I respectfully disagree. Are you going to refute anything I say or are you just disagreeing? What do you want me to say? I like you guys over here, and have been posting here for a long time. I don't see any reason to kick someone when they're down, you guys are struggling and that's painful enough. I just think it's a little far fetched to start talking post season when you've won 1 game after losing 8 straight. If you look at the original post there are 8 things listed that all have to happen for the Cubs to have a chance. It's a pretty small chance but it's still a chance. Pie in the sky optimism would be to say the Cubs are in the driver's seat or even to say "I like our chances". It's not very likely and I don't see where anyone is saying they are confident of a playoff birth. At the same time, you of all people should know that strange things happen in baseball. Your team was given up for dead last season and came back to win the WC. Heck, your team was given up for dead this season and leads the WC. Then again, you came here more or less stating that you didn't believe your team could do it last year, saying something to the effect of "Thanks for getting our hopes up" after the ill fated (for Cubs' fans) series. As virtually the only Astros fan that posts here your thoughts on that particular subject stand out. At the time I would have agreed with you that the Astros didn't have much of a chance. I don't believe the combination of things that need to happen will. I certainly hope that we're both wrong again. So what you're saying is that those 8 things are a formula not for the definite, or even for the likely, but for the unthinkable. I get it now! ...*glances at thread title* [/b]
  8. I still say this team was good enough to compete for the division. If you look at how many games the cards should have won, this was a winnable division. The offense hs not been as bad as everyone expected. The pitching has been the problem. Who predicted that? I blame Baker, The players, injuries and Hendry in that order.
  9. No worries there, we love making fun of Alou. :D And at least he knows its not pronounced "Pi" Granted, it doesn't quite work the way I wanted it to. Is it "Pee-eh" or "Pee-eye?" More like Pee-ay, and the joke works well... As much as I hate to acknowledge a Cards fan's "knowledge" of anything.
  10. No worries there, we love making fun of Alou. :D And at least he knows its not pronounced "Pi"
  11. Still a 4point ERA for the game. Sorry, I'm still being negative, and that doesn't happen often.
  12. There energy!! the excitement!! 12 pages of posts before the first pitch is thrown. Cubdom must be excited about those awesom cubbies!
  13. 'bout time. Don't the reds know that you can't score runs by walking.
  14. Can't. Dusty didn't have anyone up in the pen. Anyone been to the mound?
  15. Pierre in left is the biggest waste of that position ever. fielders...Murton > Pierre We all love Matt Murton, but that's ridiculous. Not at all. Pierre is not very good. Thirded
  16. Sadly enough, that lineup could probablly score just as much as the regular lineup. The funniest part of that line-up is that Lee STILL doesn't get a day off!
  17. It was alou. And your kool-aid tested positive.
  18. don't hurt him too bad brionch. BTW have you checked your private messages recently?
