    I think he had rolled out just enough to be "out of the pocket" ball bounced well before the line of scrimmage If you are talking about the play I'm thinking of, it bounced right next to an eligible receiver on the ground.

    With better linemen on both sides of the ball, I think you'd see the rest of the roster suddenly look a lot better. Yes. Not going to make Kyle good enough to be a solid NFL starting QB. Not going to make those craptastic receivers passable. But yeah, if you replace what? 5-7 lineman out of 22 starters? Sure, the team would be better. Two good offensive linemen and a good pass-rushing DE. Suddenly you'd see the defense dominate again the running game would be adequate and Orton could go back to getting credit for wins he didn't help create.

    He's never had that deep ball even when he was on and healthy. But, let him throw bad pass after bad pass and you hear nothing, yet Grossman can't take off his head towel without being booed. Orton's no better. Never has been, really. It's the Adam Dunn hate mentality. Certain types of failure are okay, others are unacceptable. Striking out is bad, grounding out is okay. Having poor control is a sign of mental problems, having poor velocity isn't. Being inconsistent at QB is booworthy, being consistently bad is not.

    Votto's a decent hitter and a first baseman. I'm going with "really not a big deal" more than "the real deal." Bruce will probably be a very good player eventually, but yes my argument was that he won't be anything special in the 2009 season.

    I agree, but the team to watch out for is Cincinatti. With Bruce, Votto, and Phillips making up the heart of their lineup for years to come, and if Volquez has another season anything like last and Harang can be good again, and Cueto can have a breakout season, they could be legit contenders sooner than later. Didn't see it last year and I don't see it this year. Votto is better than I thought he'd be, but Bruce won't be anything special next year and Phillips never will be. They might make it to .500 next season if everything breaks right.
